Arrogant Bastard was the OG Black IPA

The SRM is within range. The bitterness is within range. The alcohol content is in range. What else you got? There’s no argument against this. You lose.

Hoppy (Imperial) Brown Ale or Brown IPA if there is such a thing. Not roasty enough to be a Black IPA, and I am offended that OP - who originally went by username Black IPA - would make this error.

You’ve had too many…

There’s more to it than ABV/SRM/IBU, or half the stouts on the planet would qualify as Black IPA

Plenty roasty. Get a club

Whenever someone uses “OG” I imagine them to be wearing parachute pants and …
Oh, it works:

Stop! Hammer Time
The SRM is within range (do duh, do duh)
The bitterness is within range (du duh, da duh)
The alcohol content is in range (du da, da da)
What else you got?

I remember the OG Arrogant Bastard of the mid-aughts being very different in color and no roast flavor at all.

I haven’t had this beer in like 10 years because it sucks, although I bet I overrated it when a was a limp dicked 20 year old nerd.

Well if the SRM is in the right range, the SRM is wrong!

They actually do sell stovepipes and 6 pack pints of this at 7-11.

It’s currently my favorite beer, and I stock up weekly.

This is solid troll. Next time some wanker starts his/her wank about beer styles this example can be used.

I disagree. Most if not all stoots don’t have the hop bitterness.

they can do… but the point was if you’re defining styles by statistics then in terms of ABV, IBU and EBC you could make stout and BIPA almost interchangeable
