These two beers have not been retired, the brewery just stopped pretending they were brewed by Renegade and they now state West Berkshire on the labels:
I changed the styles and renamed and unretired the renegade beers. I suppose an alias should be created at this point or a clarification in the name that it was formerly Renegade. Thoughts?
I would just add it as a clarification. It’s the same beer. Every other old school British brewery has started to release beers with a fake craft brewery branding, West Berks were the first to stop it and actually stated that they wanted to be more, “more honest.”
Did everything bar a few that weren’t actually flavored.
Also only did a few of these. Exact guidelines on styles should be coming in the near future, but as it stands now, my interpretation of this style (as someone who lived in NZ for several years) is that it is not just about having NZ / Aus hops, it is actually a different style of beer. It’s maltier and less aggressively hopped than an APA, more in line with a NZ / Aus hopped “English pale ale”. As such, I only changed those which explicitly market themselves as a NZ / Aus / Pacific pale ale. In particular, those heavily hopped hazy pale ales that Tired Hands and Other Half produce should definitely not be changed.
Ok, cool - I was kind of wondering about that, especially since there are plenty of beers which have half NZ hops and half U.S. hops or something for example.
There you go. I think I’m done for while, mined obvious names from my ratings one by one and through ratings searches, and then this one is through checking the tags and cross referencing them with ratings for listed styles. Could probably do more of the latter if I think of more tags to search, but I’m worn out for now.
