You’d have to ask @Viper666.Qc however I might go with the ‘at glance’ it looks like a pure supermarket vs. a venue specialising in beers? But again I’m not sure of the reason. If they’re selling craft beers in the area thats good for everyone.

It’s not a craft beer shop (in the sense that they don’t sell modern, progressive beer) more a traditional Eastern European shop. There are loads of places like this on RateBeer selling unique beers that you cant find anywhere else. Id say its the only place selling these beers in this entire area. I would think that appeals to rate beer users.

I usually only click on new places entered by unregistered users. So if by any mean you find a user with reviews (beers or places) in those list, that would be a copy/paste mistake from my part.

i.e. Users who have logged in once and have only added a single place and never logged in again?
I’ll have to do some research, but wondering if we could systematically delete these users without having to go through this every day or two.

Well the most obvious one is almost all of those user names end with numbers. I’m thinking that the ones with numbers are bot created while the few which don’t have numbers are individually created by the owners, etc. The real aim is probably not advertising since some don’t exist physically at all, like:

I hope they are not trying to break into the membership info and using these to explore vulnerabilities
Looking at the usernames, they do look like the ones that are autogenerated when an account is created. This happens on occasion when it the system that creates a new user cannot pick up the username that was submitted. So generally not a good indicator.
I’m also wondering are all these users only doing one thing… which is creating a single place to add to the database (whether it be real or fake) and then doing nothing else.

Please delete the following users they seem to be bots and have created nonbeer related places: KegStave66, NobleChalice68, BeerRates63, AllGrainMaster66, HopsTickers55, CaskLiquids65, kevinpflahavan, FlightTapper59, BarrelRespek63, BitterMuse55, FrothyTun59, NobleLiquids67, BrewRater47, DraftHopper58, AleLiquids71, PilsnerChalice68, LovibondGuide59, BarleyMuse53, MeadTamer154, FoamMuse55, MaltoseScout68, WortReports61, and BrewTrub60. Usually, yes, the user only creates one nonbeer related place or some random restaurant that may or may not serve beer.
If there was some account verification (email verification, having to enter a real username, region and country and having a captcha in order to save the profile infos), this would remove 99% of the fake entries.
Like I said, If you don’t want to remove those kind of accounts to boost web traffic, at least consider them as a NEW USER security level 1 account, which mean they can only add “personal/private ratings” and nothing else, until they complete account verification, which would make them REGULAR USERS.
