Fuck ya. Wanted this last month.

Even more examples this year than ever. I think after a few Springs in The Netherlands my love of this style really blossomed, albeit Lentebock there. My favorites this year have been Metropolitan, Dovetail, Third Space, but a lot of solid examples overall. Haven’t picked up any Hofbrau yet, a perennial fav.

Don’t really understand why but with lagers I’ve always liked the weaker pale ones better than the dark ones and the darker strong ones more than the pale. So although I’ve like a few pale and amber bocks recently ( Sierra Nevada Old Chico Pale Bock, Giesinger / Hopsteiner Munique & Bracket Mike’s Bock) I wasn’t surprised that I didn’t much care for this one:

But it was the only tick I could find.

This one is not really a lager though being brewed with ale yeast.

I really want to visit there but every time I’m hiking in area I don’t have time to swing by. I always leave a buffer and if I hike mountain in certain amount of time I can swing by a brewpub after but always end up too slow for most part.

That is in part how we ended up there. Surprise snow flurries curtailed our plans for a long hike so after a much shorter hike there was plenty of time for Schilling.
