I thought I would post an update to this stat as its the end / beginning of the year.
Just as a reminder points are allocated as follows: Top rater of beers from a county gets 50 points, 2nd 49 points and so on for each person in the top 50. This is repeated for each county, and then totaled. Points are allocated in the order people appear on the top 50 list even if the have rated the same amount of beers as someone else.
This is a really cool stats thread so I’m glad you posted an update.
Wow, I actually broke into the top 100 by quite a margin!
59 points to 89 is quite an unexpected jump for me. Off the top of my head can’t think of anywhere I would have dramatically improved. I ranked in Gloucestershire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and Tyne & Wear according to the previous thread, did I rank in more counties this time round?
Correct, just shows what a concerted effort can achieve in such a short time. I am sure that I will claw back up the table during 2019 (already have nine English beers to write about from last night).
A special shout out to Rune and Finn who are frequent travellers to these shores from Norway. They love to have a few English beers whilst they are here.
What I find bizarre on the UKCBF on Facebook is the amount of people who travel to random parts of the country and then want recommendations of where they can buy the same craft beers they have at home. Have some local beers you fashion wankers.
@Mr_Pink_152 Can you do this every six months without too much work? Say 1st July and then again on 31st Dec, I think it’s a great stat you’ve created.
I did do a couple of trips over last year, including festivals, so theoretically could pull something out of my backlog to bump the stats in key counties.
Saxo and Rasmus40 along with Grumbo have just completed a mega English road trip, so you can expect to see all their names to rise come July.
I am slowly making progress, but by chance rather than by design, just rating whatever comes my way. Actually I am surprised how many new beers I’ve already had this year; 158, with around half being English. Small backlog from the Brugge Beer Festival and a bottle share tonight will help pile on some more too even if my county scores don’t move much.
