You, I mean your friendâŠ, can easily try this at home. Very simple version: freeze beer in a plastic container (bottle) with some headspace, thaw about one third and you have an eisbocked beer with about double the abv (and probably no carbonation).
You can do fun stuff by adding spices, coffee beans, hops, whatever (donât overdo it!). Itâs a bit harder to maintain some carbonation; cool the beer before gently transferring it to the bottle before freezing, and thaw it as cool as possible (in a fridge).
Iâve once eisbocked a Czech Lidl lager, already in a plastic 1.5L bottle, with Amarillo (freeze hopping!), and refermented it by adding yeast and sugar to get carbonation. The result was quite ok (and much better than the orginal). Donât count on the beer becoming better with ghetto eisbocks. Often it becomes a syruppy, boozy, liquor, but it can be fun.

Great haul from Spain arrived to snowy Estonia! Thank you @taboada! I requested the box to be sent later because I was away but it arrived exactly just a few days before I got back.
Interesting story with this box - I was still in Tokyo when I got a call from a delivery guy. He was saying that the box seems to be a bit wet from one corner and he can smell some wine odours. He asked me if he should take the box to his apartment for a night because of extreme cold temperatures outside (yes, also in high -20ies), maybe the liquid inside the box might get frozen. I told him that this was a great idea and thatâs what he did. I was afraid that maybe some bottles are broken (or totally frozen because of the cold) but actually only one bottle of cider had leaked a bit, nothing more. Lucky!

I am really excited to try the beers, they are looking really awesome! Most of them have less than 10 ratings and in some cases I might be the first one to rate them! I wanted to have selection of local and experimental brews - and this was exactly that I got. Kind letter explaining more details and background about each of the beers and some coasters are also highly appreciated. Big thank you, really happy about this haul!

Weâre almost there! 24 of 25 boxes have arrived and are posted, the last one for tomer seems to be released from customs, so I guess that shouldnât take long anymore.
Iâve seen really amazing hauls this time again, I think this has been one of the best euro swaps so far! Thanks everyone!
