FAO UK Admins - Breweries/Places Housekeeping

I added The Bay Brewery in Hutton Rudby, as a new North Yorkshire BrewPub and cloned it as a place…

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/the-bay-brewery/77225/

however the Pub is called The Bay Horse can this please be changed.

James Street beers seem to have changed to Bath Brew House, after the brewpub. The brewery still says ‘James Street’ but this is not shown on the pumpclips, only ‘Bath Brew House’:

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/ravensgate-arms-late-knights-ramsgate/50091/

No longer Late Knights, it’s now owned by Gadd’s Ramsgate brewery.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this before (possibly not as the Places have not changed) but Southey (ex-Late Knights) have taken over two of the old LN pubs: Brighton Beer Dispensary (presumably took lease back from Brighton Bier)and whatever the pub in Peckham is called (another Beer Dispensary?).

Tom Woods brewery has changed its name.

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/tom-wood’s-brewery/53/

It’s now got the rather unimaginative name of

Lincolnshire Craft Beers

I believe there has been a change of ownership and kit but the recipes remain the same.

The Cheeky Imp Brewery has reopened. Still at the Skellingthorpe location.

I think we have discussed this one before, and although in pains me to say it, should Home Ales really be classed as a Nottinghamshire Brewery?

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/home-ales/23787/

They obviously were once a Nottingham Brand, and the new beers are brewed down the road at Oldershaw in Lincolnshire, but there website says the contact details for Home Ales are:

60 Parker Street
London,
WC2B 5PZ
0333 200 5945

Brands Reunited also behind the new(ish) Watneys, are based there too, and on our site the Home Ales Website is given as the Watneys website.

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/brands-reunited/30163/

Shouldn’t we combine both under a single Brands United entry or at the very least have them as two breweries:

Watneys (Brands United), and
Home Ales (Brands United)

both based out of the same address in London.

The milestone restaurant in Sheffield isn’t related to the milestone brewery in Newark.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/milestone/8480/

Just needs the brewery link removing.

There is a duplicate Brewery entry for Heaney in Northern Ireland. They are entered as both ‘Heaney’ and ‘Heaney Farmhouse Brewing’ their full name. One beer entered under the latter is also a duplicate.

According to the bottle labels I have in-front of me their address is:

Heaney Farmhouse Brewing
Unit a5
Portview Trade Centre
Belfast

Postcode isn’t mentioned but I’ve looked it up and it’s BT4 1HE ie the same as Boundary where the beers are currently brewed.

fb @heaneyfarmhousebrewing
website www.heaneyfarmhousebrewing.com

Can I leave you to merge and decide on the name/address etiquette. Cheers!

And another one to check:

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/earth-ale-brewery/25790/

According to the labels I have the address is given as:

1 Badswell Lane
Appleton
Oxford
OX13 5JN

No clue still where they are actually brewed but the London address on RB doesn’t seem correct?

Bit of a weird concept if you ask me. Acquire an old, dead brand and slap the label on beers that bear little, or no, resemblance to the originals except (sometimes) in name. Sell to drinkers, many of whom have little or no familiarity with the originals anyway.

Interesting that you’ll struggle to find any reference to Brands United on the Home Ales website, or elsewhere. Does the new Watneys brand even have a website or any other online presence?

Funnily enough, I asked for it to be updated a while back:

http://watneys-beer.com

I agree very weird.

and their website

http://watneys-beer.com

The home page of their website shows a picture of watneys on tap at a bar, the other three beers on tap surprise surprise all Home Ales beers.

My phone has decided to block me from opening brewing related websites. However I believe that Earth Ale are mentioned on London Beer Guide and that means they brew in London.

Just added two and realised I didn’t change the brewer type:

Faultline Brew Co - should be a Client Brewer

Meon Valley Cider - should be a Cidery

Crown Inn in Nuneaton ‘currently closed’, looks like it could be long term or even permanent.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/crown-inn-nuneaton/33483/

A Leeds name change, bar is pretty much the same as before.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/sandanista/38464/
is now called Blind Tyger

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/templar-hotel/26547/
has real ales on 8 hand pumps, not the 3-4 stated.

Suggesting a name change For BeerHeadZ in Grantham

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/beerheadz/68996/

They are opening their 4th and 5th bars soon, Grantham was the first so just added as BeerHeadZ. Others have the City / Town ofter e.g. the soon to open BeerHeadz Lincoln.

Therefore the original should probably be BeerHeadZ Grantham.

Hey folks, do we have any Irish admins or do any of you keep an eye on their breweries? I ask because I had a couple of YellowBelly beers last night and look at this bizarre listing: https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/yellowbelly-beer/23010/

Now I’m far from an expert on Irish breweries but I see 51 beers here omitting the brewery name. 51! How have so many beers been added without a brewery name and gone unnoticed in the last few years?

In addition to those 51 edits that need to take place there are a handful of other minor things to tidy to satisfy pedants:

Grammar / Capitalisation:

Collab notation
There are two collabs using the standard ‘x’ notation, not such a big deal but obviously on RateBeer we use the ‘/’ notation so those need to be changed:

Dupe or keg/bottle distinction
Two entries exist for their beer “Red Noir”. I’m not 100% sure they actually need a separate entry but upon Googling it I found the first entry (4.4%) was a one-off limited edition keg only beer. It then seemed to reappear a year later in cans at 4.9% which is the second entry. There is no word on their website about it being limited edition this time so it’s possibly a regular now. They have identical descriptions but again, I don’t know any further details so I’ll leave this up to you. Only a single entry exists on UT.

And that’s it I think.
I’m not familiar with any Irish craft breweries at all really but I got the impression YellowBelly are one of the bigger ones, in which case it’s strange to see so many beers get added like that and nobody noticed. Or is there some kind of exception here for some reason?

I’d imagine someone associated with the brewery has been screwing around with them. An all too common occurrence, unfortunately.

No doubt there’s some benefit in associated users being able to edit beers, in terms of accurate information etc but I guess we don’t tend to notice that. The fuck ups, on the other hand, stand out like a sore thumb.
