FAO UK Admins - Breweries/Places Housekeeping

Cheers for that.

Okay, looks like a slug of work here. I’m out today on a beer hunt, hopefully I can pick this up later in the week.

Yep, there’s no rush, it’s such a minor thing. Just wanted to make sure an admin was aware.

For any admin with the time, all 10 of Deya’s IPAs, as I’m sure you’re aware, are hazy/NE style.

  2. https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/deya-brewdog-norwich-are-you-taking-the-peche/559766/ (actually a Milkshake IPA - are we waiting for further style changes? or lumping them in with NEIPAs for now? Also can be retired, was a collabfest 2017 beer)

Kingston Farm Brewery has closed. Presumably in 2017 bases on Untappd.

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/kingston-farm/25813/

The Angel Microbrewery as a place below, appears not to be linked to the brewery of the same name.

Hadn’t realised I’d already posted about Craft Academy. However, whilst the bottles beers are just a GK brand, they also use the brewing equipment at the Florence. Presumably these beers are only available at the pub. So should this be recorded as a separate brewpub?

Big Smoke will start brewing in Surrey next year.

Need to do some work to keep hold of my #1 Surrey crown.

Double-Barrelled now have a tap at their brewery. 12 taps.

Friday: 3pm – 8pm

Saturday: 2pm – 7pm

They’ve got plenty of space so wouldn’t be surprised if it opened more regularly. Another Berks brewery to open a tap in an obscure location. Must be a 30 min walk from the middle of Reading.

Continuing with Berkshire, a pet hate of mine is breweries/cideries being added under their postal town rather than actual location. This cidery is in Goring which is quite a long way from Reading:

Same for Wild Weather who are based in Aldermaston Stoke.

The website for the chalk Hill Brewery is for the pub rather than the brewery

The actual website is…

The Walk Through brewery in Lincoln was short lived. It shut soon after it opened in 2017.

Sorry I forgot to mention it a the time.

Just went through and added all 8 beers from Cloudwater’s festive barrel aged box set. Seems I missed that two were already added, although one of which has errors. Sorry for the trouble.

This can be deleted, description can be copied over to the original entry https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/cloudwater-barley-wine-bourbon-ba/663866/
also note the ABV has dropped slightly to 8.7%, not sure if you want to change that.

This can also be deleted. Description should be copied over to the original entry

Also need to fix the name (add AtG as collaborator and Kentucky Common is singular not plural). Also, it’s been added as a sour which is a bit strange considering most other Kentucky Commons have been added as Traditional Ale on RB. Maybe change that too?

I note that York Brewery and Mitchell’s of Lancaster have gone into administration, I hadn’t realised that the latter owned the former.

Surprised no-one’s pointed this out yet… went to the Bar Under the Bridge on South bank today. Thought it had benefitted from it’s makeover but was less impressed by the first beer on the list being Heiniken. Walked off and in search of lunch 2 (binned my paella from Southbank market) walked past The Hop Locker. So this place is no longer the BUTB but The Hop Locker [under the bridge]

May be an idea to rename the original to Hop Locker - Soutbank Market and this one to Hop Locker - Hungerford Bridge? Or similar.

Can I suggest post haste before we see reviews slagging the place off!?

A few more place notes from travels…

King’s Hall (JDW), Cheadle Hulme
https://www.ratebeer.com/Place/state/city/placename/32971.htm
No longer a Wetherspoon, also now called King’s Tap (looking decidedly below average in its beer selection).

Fairway, Stockport
https://www.ratebeer.com/Place/state/city/placename/65976.htm
Closed

Mono, Chorlton
https://www.ratebeer.com/Place/state/city/placename/44634.htm
Closed

Works, Sowerby Bridge
https://www.ratebeer.com/Place/state/city/placename/38788.htm
Now called “Hollins Mill” - setup and beer selection exactly the same as before.

Not been there since last year but didn’t these used to be named as such then? Why were they renamed?
I remember searching the place on RB before I went down there and being slightly confused as to which Hop Locker I was actually visiting at the time since I’m not at all familiar with London and they’re relatively close together. As I recall there was a Hop Locker #1, #2 and #3. #1 being the one in the food market (permanently there I think?), #3 being the one which they now refer to as “Hop Locker: Bar Under the Bridge”. Can’t remember what #2 was/is. In any case it would definitely benefit from including “Hop Locker” in the name for searches.

2 was a summer pop up 2 or 3 years back IIRC … was known as such for that 1 season.

In London we tend to refer to them as HL1 and HL3 as a rule but I also call the latter summer/winter.

I’ve renamed them HL1 and HL3 with brackets to reference bar under the bridge

When it first opened #2 was just called The Hop Locker. It was then renamed Bar Under the Bridge for the last two seasons . However the must have been outbid for the pitch and are not allowed to call themselves Bar Under the Bridge. The burger and hotdog joints are no longer there either. Although if I was them I’d not call both my stalls the same name.

The only thing is that there is a separate place now called Bar Under The Bridge, serving pale lager and prosecco, so that could confuse people. Maybe ‘(formerly Bar Under the Bridge)’ and an explanation in the info box?

There’s only a week or so left now this season so doubt anyone will come a cropper but I’ll add a suitable note.
