There is little point in keeping Star for a Day in its current form. What criteria are used for selection? Is a user name generated randomly from the database or by sticking a pin in a list? Is so, what is the point?

If the object of the RateBeer update and revamp is to generate more interest from potential users, then surely there needs to be an explanation for each selection. It could be a brief story, a fact, a joke, but something interesting to explain the choice. It might be appropriate to link back to something in a specific forum thread which illustrates or explains the choice.

For example, it could recognise someone who:-
• has organised regular RateBeer get-togethers in their country, state or county
• or, has responded in detail on RateBeer to a visitor’s request for local information about quality bars, pubs, shops, etc
• or, has rated a large number of places outside their own country, state or county
• or, who has achieved an epic and interesting bar or pub crawl
• or, has drunk and rated 1000 crappy pale lagers so that the rest of us don’t have to.
