Fullers 1845 in bottle

This has, in the past year or so, become available in Tesco’s 4-for-£6 range which, on the face of it, seems like a steal. Before, one was lucky to pay £2 for a bottle of the stuff, at which price it was still good value.

However, I suspect that the brewery has “cheapened” the recipe to enable it to sell the beer at that low price. It seems “thinner”, less malty than I remember it. 1845 used to be noticeably fuller (please excuse the pun) in flavour than its immediate competition- Youngs Special London Ale and Shepherd Neame 1698, but there seems to be little difference now.

The label changed its style around the time of the price reduction, to add to my paranoia!

Has anyone else noticed this?
