Haven’t been here in a while-forget how average scores are calculated

I haven’t rated beers in a while so I forget how a beer’s average score works. I rated a Boulevard Love Child #10 - the average score said 3.45 yet all four of the ratings were higher than that. Refresh my memory?

if there are less than a certain amount of ratings (the threshold is definitely more than 4), there is a bias added that pulls the average to the average of all beers (within the style I believe, though I am not 100% sure of that).
