You surprise me Ian, can’t believe you’ve never done a trip over to Wales or Italy.

<*))))))><

I’ve been to Wales several times, mostly for family holidays and once for work to Cardiff but not on a beer rating break.
Italy I’ve been to Umbria a couple of times, but was only drinking wine. I did have a weekend at the 4:20 bar in Rome but that was more drinking whatever I was given rather than a choice of beers as it was mostly free. I was put in charge of a keg of German pilsner and dispensing it. I think I drank more than I poured for other people.

Living here in Shropshire I can hear the sheep bleating in Wales, so no problems for me to get plenty of rates if I feel the need.

Been to Italy a few times, but finding ‘affordable’ new beers is hard work, unless you are in Rome or a specialist beer destination somewhere.

Guess it depends on what I consider the country I’m living in

This week, I’m still in Belgium. So that would be 488 / 3590 = 13.6%
Next week, I’ll be living in the Netherlands again. There, I’m at 460 / 3590 = 12.8%

24 different countries take up at least 1% of my total ratings count. Definitely would like to push that number higher.

Approximately 70% in the US. 19.99% in New York alone. Definitely the trend among US people.

Yeah, I’ve not lived in my #1 country for 18 years, and my #2 country for 7 1/2 years.
21.5% England, 12.5% Finland, 6.8% Belgium, 6.6% my current domicile.
75% come from my top 10 countries.
19 countries have a 1% or better share of my ratings, which I don’t think it doing too badly - it might be tricky to increase that without some serious travel.

Interesting fact: Scotland checks in at number 5 on my list with 76 ratings - 54 of those is BrewDog.

I have 400 ratings from Hungary (out of all 1186), which is 34%.

Then come Germany, The Czech Republic, England and Spain.

Another Englander here. Fairly new to rating on here too.
518 rates / 157 from England
30.3%

Probably only so low due to a recent holiday to Australia over Christmas & New year

Australia 2nd - 23.7%
Scotland 3rd - 6.8%
USA 4th - 6.6%
Germany 5th - 5.4%

Top 5 comprise 72.8% of my total

USA - 72% , likely since moving stateside in 2013
Germany - 11.5% reflecting my time from 2011-2013, and the few odd German beers I can find here
Belgium - 6%, would be higher if they were more widely available
England - 3%, expect a bump after my visit in May
Australia - 1.5% from a 2015 visit

Top 5 are 94% of my total

What percentage of your total rates are from your own country?

I live in England.

Total rates 8048
English rates 3580
Percentage 44.4

Three years on and not much has changed percentage wise!

Total rates 11,411
English rates 5137
Percentage 45.

USA second on 1601 (14%)
Germany on 958 (8.4%)
Belgium on 941 (8.2%)
Scotland on 540 (4.7%)
Wales on 297 (2.6%)
Spain on 214 (1.9%)
Netherlands on 199 (1.7%)
France on 138 (1.2%)
Denmark on 116 (1%)

Denmark have overtaken the Czech Republic into 10th place (only 111, so beaten by 5 rates), and as 1% = 114.11 beers they fail to reach the cut-off by 3 rates!

I’m an Englander, and 70% of my rates are domestic in origin - next largest contributors are:

Scotland: 11.8%
USA: 4.8%
Belgium & Wales: both 2.2%
France, Germany, Ireland & Norway: all 1.1%

Than a bunch of others sub-1%

Have a number of Belgian & Polish beers in the garage, so these should move up the table shortly.

Belgium - 12% down 6%
Germany - 4% down 2%
Netherlands - 3% only posted top 3 last time

Poland 15 1.99%
Scotland 15 1.99%

Notice the lack of Belgium in the list !

In almost 3 years the change has been slow but steady

England now 44% (was 41.1%)

USA 24% (was 26.6%)

Largely explained by zero trips to the US in this period and probably rated more UK based beers in the past year than previous

Scotland still third @4.2% and Denmark has made the biggest movement with a few trips over there in the past 3 years now in 4th place @4.04%

Only two English counties my home one of Nottinghamshire and its neighbour Derbyshire provide more ratings than the US. Germany with a mere 40 is already challenging Lincolnshire. And Italy at 38 has already equalled Leicestershire. Admittedly I am in Italy at this moment and improving my Lincs or Leics scores would be much more of a challenge than adding international ratings. By the same token the global market will keep raising my IPA scores beyond my Mild and Porters even when I return to Notts. Especially if lockdown continues. When did you last see a global trending bottled Mild?!
