Hosting a charity beer tasting

I’m considering hosting a (niche) beer tasting for charity. My intention would probably be to host at my house, charge ‘x’ amount and have a tasting of say, five or six bottles.

Can anyone advise on the legal (or other) implications of hosting something like this? Anything I need to think about it?

Don’t “charge”, have a “suggested donation of at least X”.

I remember a charitable civic function where at the end my dad announced that the excess bottles of wine were being sold off to raise additional funds, but the local chief of police was present at the event and had spotted the minefield, and quickly got a revised announcement out.

Get a set of tasting glasses and get them to pay for the glass rather than the beer.
