Is anyone using Easy Add for Places?

Recently, Joe introduced Easy Add, making it easier to fill out certain fields when adding places. In theory, it should also fill out the coordinates - which are invisible for editing to non-admin place editors.

However, I’m seeing an enormous amount of new places being added without coordinates (all by non-admins), making them far less useful for anything other than for straight-up ticking. So I’m wondering - is it that nobody is using Easy Add at all, or is it bugged in a way that it skips adding coordinates if used by non-admins?

Can some non-admin please use it when adding a place next so we can test if it’s a bug or just nobody using a new feature (and accidentally creating a pile of largely avoidable admin work)?

PS. I do believe Premium users should be allowed to see and edit coordinates, as long as they are aware that moving an existing place entry when it moves in real life instead of creating a new entry is a big no-no. I hope that gets changed in the future.

sorry I added the above using the easy add. the address and hours self populated. i had to input the country and state. which apparently i chose wrong state first, but i correct. But coordinates still dont populate in map.

Thank you! I had my suspicions it was like this as I saw some google-style working hours on places without coordinates. :sigh: more work for the admins (or unfinished entries lost in the system) for now.

@joet FYI coordinates aren’t populated when non-admins use Easy Add.

Hiya, I didn’t know about this feature until I tried to add a couple of places today. Very useful and quick, and saves at least 5 cut and pastes from google. Cuts the time it takes to add a place in half. Many thanks for adding this.

Did the places you added show up on the map/have coordinates?

I was trying to use it to add a Spec’s in Prosper, Texas on a recent trip since I bought a box of different beers there. It seemed to work up to a point then told me I had to be an admin to add places so I finally gave up.

Yea that bug still isn’t fixed happened to me too. I had to log out from two seperate locations and then log in from places section then able to add.

Just added another spot from phone I’ve been holding onto since didn’t want to ask an admin to do it. Super easy with this addition, terrific! Hopefully coordinates get sorted. But nice to see a new feature round these parts

I believe I’ve fixed this superficially. I mean that now when anyone submits a place the zip is added. But the code is not elegant and I’ll be updating it. The site goes through an update cycle and is unavailable for 10 minutes every time we make an update, so I’m trying to cluster those now.

The forum login fix is proving quite frustrating to our developer. And to me and I’m sure others too. My desktop works but not my mobile. We will plug away until it’s fixed!

No map but notice two commas after the road address for both places I added

Yet another new beer venue in Kendal then?! Kendal must be one of the best small towns for beer in the UK!

I fixed both.

Not really a venue as such - just the Lakes brewery take-away shop (unless you happen to be in Kendal the one day a month they open their bar)…

Just used it a few times. Such a relief. Thank you.

I noticed Joe’s reply where he said it works on his desktop but not his phone. Works fast on my Windows 7 laptop. Didn’t try my Windows 11 all in one. So I finally got my Spec’s added. At least it happened before all the beers I bought were gone! But when I travel I never take a computer with baggage weight limits on the plane.

The phone thing is about forum login thankfully, not easy add for places.

Wow! Easy add is great. A new and functional feature in RB, am I dreaming?

Just added 3 new places (2 London / 1 Copenhagen) one of the London ones did not work with Easy Add (could not find it even though it shows in google maps like the other 2 that added fine) but the other London one and the Copenhagen one here added fine. Worked well for the 2 it found, replicating correct coordinates/opening hours/website etc (edit# added using Desktop/Windows 10/Chrome browser)
