July in the Shires

Bishops Castle Beer Day; Saturday 7th July.

Six pubs (two of which are brewpubs) all having at least ten casks, live bands and food. Lovely little town, all six pubs are worth visiting anyway, so with the extra casks it’s even better.

16 of us in a mini-bus, plus England at 15:00, should/could be a fantastic day.

Starting tomorrow at the Rising Sun in Sheffield is the annual Sunfest

Beer list is rather good and features a good few from Abbeydale’s ‘Funk Dungeon’ project

The Deeping Beer Festival is on the 20th and 21st of July, its not a CAMRA festival, but run by the Deepings Rugby Club. Normally it has some new Rutland Beers for those who like to up their stats, but a few less this year. The beer list is out, and as usual beers are ordered in beer name rather the brewery order which makes it harder to pick out new beers.

Got 20 rates from Rutland (a mad weekend in Oakham, two Peterborough Beer Festivals and 6 or 7 visits to the Grainstore Brewery) eventually.

It’s Surrey (18 rates) and the IoW (only 9) that I require. Both yourself and @BeardedAvenger have helped with those scores at the Cotteridge Gathering, thanks.

Went to the trade sesh / preview for Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival last night and have to say its the most varied line-up ive seen for a few years. No kegs of course, and the 120 beers are dominated by twiggy 3.8%ers but a couple of cask sours plus a few experimental offerings. Two casks of Fyne / De Molen Mills & Hills 9.5% stood out, one cold brew version.
