Krakow

Dear,

any ideas for beer tourism or other “don’t miss it” ideas in those areas.
Will be in Katowice 14 - 17 and in Krakow 18 - 19 of November.

Can bring a few locals (Swedish/Gothenburg) if some one is interested in a face to face trade.

Cheers // Thomas

I will get back to you probably on Sunday if no one does. Just been there last month and to krakow 3 times in the last two years in general.

Katowice:

I have been there for one afternoon and a night with a student group. Non beerwise we went to Park Slaski and did a roundtrip with the ropeway (like a skilift). Was okay for a moment of relaxing. Surprised to find a new brewery though at the end of it near the stadium: Browar Przystań scenic setting, 4 beers on tap and they were more than solid.
After this we drove to Nikiszowiec in the east. An old workers area with red brick buildings. Okay for a walk around but nothing to go out of your way. In the evening I went to Browariat. Great place and they had Kernel taptakeover. Otherwise the city is not so special and interesting at all, but i heard from locals it is more and more getting attractive. The Muzeum Śląskie is supposed to be great if you want to learn more about Silesia.

Krakow:
As said I have been there 3 times in the last 2 years but never with a big focus on beer more to visit friends. Nonetheless beerwise @adamnowek mentioned the big places. I havent even been to all of them but I can really recommend Wezze Krafta, great neighborhood in general. I would add BroPub by Brokreacja, they do wellpriced flights. TEA Time is a brewpub which does english cask ales if you are into this.
In general: visit Kazimierz (the old jewish area), eat Zapiekanki at plac Nowy there. And for more check below. And keep in mind, public drinking is not allowed in Poland. So no beer watching the sunset sitting at the river

Here is a rundown in German from a friend of things to do, where to eat and drink in Krakow. Its in German and I am to lazy now to translate but if interested you can run it through google translate. If you have any more question let meknow.

Sehenswertes:
Altstadt:

Kazimierz (ehemaliges jüdisches Viertel, hier spielt ‚Schindlers Liste‘)

| Book now!

  • Propaganda (Kazimierz), linke Bar, eher rockig

  • Prozak (Altstadt)

Thx again for the tips and what not. - @rhoihessegold and @adamnowek.
Chorzow - nice stay at the Hotel Diament, nice SPA. Checked the Ethnography part of the Museeum a bit dark and sad but kind of a nice walk in Silesia Park also had the cable over the park nice to see the Polish people out and around but not to much from a touristic perspective. Browar Przystań - nice brews in fresh interiors, not easy to find when on foot - and very dark and loads of youngsters hanging around in the park. Minibrowar Reden - more interesting brews and had the grand tour. Found a very good Dumpling place - Fryderyka Chopina 12, 41-500… ask them for a mixed plate.
(The ones in Krakow were covered in local fat - NOK)

Katowice. The Bierhalle was OK - luckily I found a Sushi a stones throw away, Hana Sushi - super nice and pricey Sushi (Chorzowska 109b, 40-101).
Yet another brew pub Browar Mariacki was nice.
Browariat - nice hang, great food, nice brews but mostly foreign - they are general agent for a couple of foreign breweries. Really appreciated the soft jazz on the vinyl records.
BIERLAND - land of 1000 beers - not 1000 beers many many goods ones, located in a rough council block area.
And finally Biała Małpa on hand looked like an yummy Mexican and the other hand loads of taps and 4 hand pulls with heavy stouts, best at this trip.

Krakow, went to Multi Tap - and there I had the best beer tip for the trip - Ontap.pl, there you can see what is on in each of the pubs … that are registered. Discovered that most Krakow pubs had the same of not similar beers from the same brewers, perhaps only an coincidence at my visit.
Also went to Omerta and Miód i Wino,
Food was super everywhere in the non tourist ares, exception - there were many Vegan/Vegetarian places in Krakow! How can they find so fresh vegetables in late November? Last founding - go for a Chopin concert - really nice…

Cheers // Thomas

Haha, not 1000, there is actually a place in Chorzów, another beer store: Sklep Impuls that I am a great fan of, because they DO actually have over 1000 beers. Maybe you can take some home with you when leaving.

Other than that, as others have mentioned there is Minibrowar Reden and the Silesia Park with plenty of opportunities to find local beer.
