Following MrPinks efforts I thought to myself, 'Hmmm, wonder what my home county top breweries are?"
Have kept it it to a Top 5 as there are so few in Surrey but have also looked up the stats for my real home county of Hampshire and the oiks over the border in Berkshire.
Surrey
Big Smoke 18 @ 3.39
Tilford 8 @ 3.3
Ascot 27 @ 3.28
Thurston’s 24 @ 3.2
Surrey Hills 8 @ 3.19
Hants
Unity 44 @ 3.56
Vibrant Forest 33 @ 3.48
Emsworth Brewhouse 5 @ 3.46
Fallen Acorn 9 @ 3.42
Staggeringly Good 11 @ 3.4
Berks
Siren 95 @ 3.6
Elusive 77 @ 3.51
Double-Barrelled 31 @ 3.49
Wild Weather 34 @ 3.44
Binghams 14 @ 3.26
Some of these breweries benefit from individual stouts, or such like, upping their average amongst the swaves of golden ales and twiggy bitters.
So how do other people’s home county/ies compare?
*After a few months of lockdown I am certainly short, fat, hairy and don’t bother getting dressed.
Hop & Stagger Brewery 14 @ 3.44
Hobsons Brewery 32 @ 3.42
New Brew (aka Plan B) 13 @ 3.41
Rowton 40 @ 3.39
Salopian 81 @ 3.39
All pretty close, pleased with the results, but some good ‘Real Ale breweries’ missed out. Very surprised to find Hop & Stagger at the top, Salopian being down in 5th is because I have scored some of their citrusy brews fairly low, but their darker, stronger beers get better scores from me.
I can’t believe some of the numbers. I.e. I’d been wanting to try a beer from Unity after reading about them and I think I had my first beer from them at a festival in May 2018. And now I have had 44 of them, yet if you’d asked me I would have thought I’d maybe had 15-20 max.
Edit: That was total bollocks. I had two in October 2016.
