Am completely new to ratebeer, having been alerted to the closure. It’s just one more nail I guess (our local, Central London, community gyms etc., are dropping like ninepins, and we’re still loosing pubs at a rate) …
It seems that the big international companies are unable to manager local breweries let alone anything else very well.
It’s not an alternative, of course, but for the UK there’s CAMRA’s what?ub now evolved into an Exeperience (no, I don’t much care for that either) … and as Members, of course, beers can be rated.
That’s mostly because Brewver is run on zero budget by a few people with limited technical knowledge and time. I’m sure if a lot of new users want to join and a forum is a big wish something can be worked out.
I’m aware, and I do hope they will have their own forum at some point as it’s always better to have the main website and forum integrated well together. But I feel this would at the very least be a good interim solution where everyone can gather until Brewver has something of their own.
Given the amount of technical issues experienced on RB in recent years, I’m fairly confident users would not mind subscribing to a premium account, or donating towards a particular fund if a goal amount was needed.
