The new one was, I think, 1 or 2 years old.
I had Eldridge Pope and O’Hanlon’s quite fresh, many times (it was easily available to me); sure, I can’t remember the details, and my preferences also change, but I’m sure they were much better

I can’t argue with that. Lucky you to have had them fresh to put the proper perspective on.

I would wait for another batch or 2 to allow them to tinker with the beer. First batches are often just the start nowadays, I hope.
