Tuesday Country Stat Attack: 17 United States

I am currently in Southern California, as some of you know: Orange County, a weekly look at a Californian Trip

My first taste of the US was an eight week RAF deployment to Alaska in the early 90’s, I was already into beers and found plenty to drink while out there, fell in love with this: https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/alaskan-amber/13/

2010 was a Las Vegas and road trip holiday, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, North Arizona (Flagstaff), a bit of Route 66 and the Hoover Dam where all taken in, loved it, in fact Bryce Canyon is most likely my favourite place on earth. Please google it or something.

It was in 2013 when Margie and I took our first ever cruise, Southampton to San Francisco via New York and a few other places, stayed in San Fran for a while before flying home.

The game changer for us was when my daughter and her husband moved over to California in 2014, we’ve been coming over for long stays ever since (apart from a global under cooked Bat Shit problem) and my stats show it. We tend to have mini breaks while over here, hit a new area by train or driving and where ever we go there are new breweries, beers and bars to explore. We have even flown over to see them and cruised back from San Diego to Southampton once (it’s cheaper than flying Business Class and a lot more fun!).

I will have had a beer from all the States once I drink the three remaining ones, they are in the fridge awaiting the moment. Cheers Tanner @rennat42.

I have reviewed 130 different places in California, with three more to write, 19 other places from Arizona, Nevada, New York and Utah, so 5 States all told.

1910 Beers rated with about 30 in my backlog and 20 or so in the fridge. California, unsurprisingly leads the field with 1144 hits, no other State has 100, although Colorado and New York are in the 90’s.

My Top Beers.

Samuel Adams Triple Bock 4.4 2.82 9/25/2013

Fremont Brew 4000 4.3 4.08 12/28/2021
Idyllwild Deadwood Dubbel 4.3 3.21 1/11/2022

Did I really give a 4.4 to Samuel Adams Triple Bock? Yes, I did and having just re-read my rating I stand by it.

Hoppin’ Frog, Beer Zombies and Valiant are my favourite breweries according to my scores, but a special mention for Toppling Goliath who’s beers are great, but I’ve only had four of them!

Walked over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran for my bridge fix and everyone loves my accent where ever I go.

3 beers from Miller have a score of below 1, but my average for the US is a very respectable 3.28.

THE END!
