Asheville Breweries: Hurricane Closures

Still compiling info from drive-bys & social media. River Arts District, Biltmore & East Asheville got drowned. So did Weaverville & Mars Hill up north. Black Mountain is bad. Old Fort is mostly inaccessible. It’s TBD if you can drive to Charlotte. The direct route to Tennessee is still cut off. Lots of people are evacuating to Atlanta.

Thanks for the status Adam.

Oh man… such a shame. Hope you and yours are completely okay, Adam, really glad to hear from you here, we were worried for a bit!

Sad. Looking at the pics of Chimney Rock really put the damage in perspective for my wife and I. So many memories under water…

Whaley Farm is confirmed to be trashed. Anything in Old Fort or Marshall is trashed.

Riverside Rhapsody confirmed to be okay enough to cook food for locals.

Lots of restaurants & breweries downtown cooking free food.

@MicroGrog The thing about Chimney Rock is specific - unsure they were even brewing anymore at the site (which is completely trashed), but at the Mars Theatre location, which is fine. Buuut, from what I’ve read up, Mars Theatre is in danger as well as the Chimney Rock location was basically carrying the sales…

Rye Knot update on owner’s FB:
“Power restored 10/2. Most proteins will be recovered. The cook lines and walk-in will be discarded and replaced. I don’t know the status of beers in walk-in. Will have to conduct taste tests today. No water. This is the most critical item for reopening. The water system is destroyed and I’m sure will take weeks to repair. No internet=no point of sale, no phone, no tv.”

Black Mountain Cider & Mead chimed in with loss of brew equipment & finished product, building is okay.

Hi-Wire Biltmore miraculously reported that the water just trashed their parking lot but couldn’t quite make it into the building.

French Broad Brewery, despite the ugly cleanup, is posting on Instagram a five page synopsis, everyday, of where to get free food/water/supplies/donate/volunteer.
