Time to make a call before the month proceeds too much further. Strap on your dirndls, drink outside or with dogs if you please. Cider next month, so start steeping your ferrets now.
Yea baby!
Feels like October outside so got in the mood for an O-fest. Lots of CO2. Soft caramel, malts, red apples, light floral, yeasty, the Trub is real in this one. Decent stuff.
Hawkers seem to be doing a different Märzen each year. The first was not so good but this is settling into a good pattern of sucking in the tickers.
Accidentally bought it again, somehow tastes much less pleasant than two months ago. Shouldn’t taste that different already?!
I’ll probably have a ton more now that the temperature is starting to cool off in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Here’s one of the first I’ve had for the season from a local brewery around the corner from me, Audacious Aleworks Oktoberfest.
I’d had it years ago, and it was just okay. This time it hit the spot for some reason.
Andechs Festbier. OK but unspectacular. Clearly just arrived in this country with an American importer’s name on the bottle. Aliased here to Andechser Spezial Hell. Interesting to note that on UnTappd the beers are not aliased and the Spezial Hell has a score of 3.52 whereas the Festbier has a score of 3.95. Generous American raters, I guess.
Nice set of brews posted so far. I’m jelly; hope to come across a festbier soon so I can participate.
