Peru regions

So looks like these are the departments of Peru, basically 24 plus Lima?

Amazonas
Ancash
Apurímac
Arequipa
Ayacucho
Cajamarca
Cuzco
Huancavelica
Huánuco
Ica
Junín
La Libertad
Lambayeque
Lima
Loreto
Madre de Dios
Moquegua
Pasco
Piura
Puno
San Martin
Tacna
Tumbes
Ucayali

Hmm, seems there’s actually 26. Lima has both a department and a province for the city itself which doesn’t belong to any department but has the same power. Each has roughly equal populations. This is the same as other South American countries we’ve split (Argentina, Chile, Mexico) so I think we can do it here too.

So the updated list of 26 should look like this I think?

Amazonas
Ancash
Apurímac
Arequipa
Ayacucho
Cajamarca
Cusco
El Callao
Huancavelica
Huánuco
Ica
Junín
La Libertad
Lambayeque
Lima (this is the department surrounding the capital)
Lima Province (wikipedia uses this English name, it’s the province containing the capital city)
Loreto
Madre de Dios
Moquegua
Pasco
Piura
Puno
San Martín
Tacna
Tumbes
Ucayali

Cool, thanks for catching that.

Is there somone who will input the Depts?

So far it’s been services that does this @Lubiere . Once they’ve split these, then we start dividing everything up. Chile and Mexico are done, I think Brazil and Argentina still need doing as they have been split by services so far.

Basically I’m just gathering background information on how to input the regions of various countries right now. Once the 17 countries that were just split are finished, then we’ll start worrying about the next set.

So final list for Peru?

Amazonas
Ancash
Apurímac
Arequipa
Ayacucho
Cajamarca
Cusco
El Callao
Huancavelica
Huánuco
Ica
Junín
La Libertad
Lambayeque
Lima
Lima Province
Loreto
Madre de Dios
Moquegua
Pasco
Piura
Puno
San Martín
Tacna
Tumbes
Ucayali

I suppose we don’t have any locals to confirm?
But anyway it matches the ISO list so it gets a thumbs up from me.
