Ten thousand doesn’t even get you into the top 200 now. But “hotting up” is an interesting way of putting it: people fly by but steady raters pass those no longer here and those really no longer here.
I’ve been stuck between 101 and 110 for a bit now. Passing inactive raters and getting lapped by those who are more active than me. My rating has definitely slowed down, but my guess is that I’ll stay in that range for a while and never quite crack the top 100.
Just past my 20 year anniversary. I dropped like a brick over the past couple of years (was up to 89 at one point but life got in the way). Got the week off so hopefully will get 15K by the end of the month and planning on a trip to Canada to get a Side Launch Wheat and some sweet cream ales and Sleemans later this summer.
I recently passed 8k rates which currently has me at 268th place. It’s pretty crazy to me that I could rate another 2000 beers right now and still not be in the top 200, let alone be anywhere near the top 100.
I currently rate around 1k beers a year but I have a feeling I’m going to need to cut down for health reasons, so getting into the top 100 seems almost impossible unless a LOT of people above me stop rating. Then maybe in another decade I’ll be there.
I am just outside of the top 100. I was floating around 69 for ages People I used to be similar to have almost doubled my ratings count now! I just can’t keep up any more. Nor do I want to really - my patience for ticking beers I don’t enjoy is pretty much gone now and I am going out a lot less than I used to.
Top 100 is just about insight. It might take me a year or so. Currently at 114 on 14328 beers so about 670 short.
I’ve had a fairly slow start to the year and am not in this years to 50. Mainly cutting back to save some pennies for the trip to Australia I’m on now.
Nearly 100 mostly Australian beers so far, and moved up to 113 with 14381 beers. Totals now include a massive 4 from Northern Territory (with 1 more in the fridge).
I hadn’t even noticed it’s been so long since I have been in the top 100! Cheers!
Mabel and I just did our first big beery trip in a long time - we managed to visit about 80-90% of the breweries in New Brunswick and ticked most of the breweries we didn’t make it to. I was kind of surprised how many ratings we got when i started adding them up. I actually passed swiseman as the top rater of NB beers and breweries for the time being!
@blipp has entered the corridor of certainty (the four lapsing raters of @Theis, @olio, @czar and @Bov, who are a foursome of around 15,000 rate each guys dropping down the ratings together).
Exciting times around the 100th top raters list hopefuls, pity the guys left though. RateBeer.com – 100 Beer Club
