BEERS: Issues Reporting - Please Post Here for modifications

Excellent find, thank you! Keeping these separate, with notes.

I suspect that it’s not actually that rare. Beer 52’s budget means that ingredients and ABVs get cut.

Exactly.

Moved it to the Ukrainian brewery it belongs to instead of nuking it.

Finally got around to buying a VK drink and the one I spent my ÂŁ2 on is unratable. Presumably that is correct. I only ask because the majority of the VK range is rateable, apparently containing 53% beer. Is the Watermelon produced differently (should have stuck with the rateable one my wife initially handed me)?

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/vk-kick-watermelon-alcoholic-mix/841690/

I was under the impression none of them should be rateable and had no idea they were even on Ratebeer.

Those ones added in the late 2000s are sketchy. VK literally stands for Vodka Kick. I know that when they first launched these drinks vodka was the source of the alcohol. Since when did they start using beer in them? I mean they’re not even on Untappd having been deleted many a time, except for, ironically, that watermelon one. Does it actually say on the label that it contains 53% beer? I guess if it does then it’s somehow legit?

There’s actually no mention of vodka. Or beer.

Glad I didn’t buy this.

The “sketchy” ones from the late 2000s I can personally vouch for and so can all of the admins who’ve rated them from the bottles we spread around as a joke. They were indeed made with beer, the labels said so. We wouldn’t have added them and rated them if they weren’t.

These that is:
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/vk-kick-ice-alcoholic-mix/88775/
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/vk-kick-blue-alcoholic-mix/88776/
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/vk-kick-tropical-alcoholic-mix/88777/
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/vk-kick-orange-alcoholic-mix/88778/

And likely the apple one that we didn’t get but Finland did. the Mojito Original is suspicious, but wouldn’t be shocked if there was a beer-based version for a short while.

Would’ve been glad not to have had any of them personally, especially the atrocious orange one in hindsight, thought we had the world’s worst “beer” with it. And yeah, we were aware what the name meant. Not sure what the brand thought either to launch them but it seems it didnt’ get far. Retired them now.

The ones added in 2020 have had their name modified so that they LOOK like the legit ones from 2007-2009.

“VK Kick Watermelon Alcoholic Mix” is actually just VK Watermelon looking at the label. No additional “Kick” and no additional “Alcoholic Mix” on the front label. Editing them for clarity.

NO VK’s currently available are legit additions to the site. I’d even go delete the “unratable” ones - so that nobody gets confused.

Hi,
Confirmed by Basqueland. Different beers, one with adjuncts (Pasaia) and one with no adjuncts (Pasajes). Kinda weird and confusing because of the labelling and the naming of the beers xD. Sorry.

Good admin work. Thanks @Marko and @LazyPyro

Cheers.
Alex.

No worries, it’s frequently like that with Beer52. I’ve heard from breweries, and the Brits will prolly confirm, that the margins are really tight on beers made for them. Unless someone’s making a big order of various styles where they can balance things out with cheaper and more expensive beers to make, vanilla is not something that will be used.

Which, of course, doesn’t mean that the beers made will be uninteresting, just that expensive spices won’t generally be a part of the budget.

Thank you for checking with the brewer too!

The German Kraft website tells me that this should be listed under A&H where it was brewed. May well have been produced before the Mayfair brewery started operating.

Should also stat A&H / German Kraft Mayfair.

German Kraft / Anspach & Hobday The German Kraft Pale • RateBeer

“Our collaboration made exclusively for our new site in Mayfair. An English pale ale made with German hops and a German Koelsch yeast at Anspach & Hobday’s new brewery in Croydon.”

This one also appears to have been brewed at A&H’s old Bermondsey brewery, “Our first ever collab with Anspach & Hobday in Bermondsey:”

German Kraft / Anspach & Hobday Fritz Taube • RateBeer

Is anybody doing the photo updates for the beer listings? It says to send email, but photos are not changing. Been attaching photos to email.

Dark Horse was a renamed Penguin… and now Penguin is back under their other branding:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/disruption-is-brewing-penguin/1096168/

I don’t personally have access to that email but I wonder if you’re able to manually upload them yourself by going here: https://www.ratebeer.com/upload/post.asp?m=1&Id=0000000
(replace the 0s with the beer ID number).

I remember when I was a normal user I was still able to upload beer photos this way. They often didn’t appear instantly but after an hour so they would usually be there by then.

Bumping this one but only because in the meantime someone added another version of Penguin. However they left DiB out of the name. It’a in fact already been aliased but could potentially even just be deleted:

The neighbours are going to try and pick me up a beer in Egypt so was doing some research. These four are malt flavoured and have not been fermented so should not be rateable (and are not radlers):

Also, Hogs Back have brewed a different 4.5% version of this (MajesTEA) so can this version please be retired:

I think this one is Bootleg. At least according to the label.

I was at Selhurst Park for our recent match v Leicester and Neil Morrissey’s “Palace Ale” is now being brewed/bottled by Wolf Brewery since 2018…

I had it a few times many years before on cask when it was brewed by Marstons under alias “Morrissey Fox Palace Blond Ale” but never bottle, and was going to rate it under the below bottle version… (the alias above links to the cask version of the same named bottle entry below)

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/morrissey-fox-blonde-ale-bottle/94445/

But what is best admins? should I just rate under the above entry and request a edit of “brewed by/at” to be changed to Wolf for that entry? Its still the same beer just brewed by a new brewery since 2018.

Also, I notice that this entry is tagged “1001-beers-you-must-taste-before-you-die” but is that actually true? - I know that Neil Morrissey prefaced the original book but cant believe his beer makes up that list?

I’ve noticed this one is categorized as Flavoured/Pastry as well as bunch of other Popihn stouts. I’m not so sure all of those are flavoured.

Also this one is definitely a duplicate
