Santa clausthaler is made in 2 versions - and many users has rated the wrong one.

Santa Clausthaler made for the Norwegian / Scandinavian market is an all malt NA
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/santa-clausthaler/18656/
This is where the ratings are placed wrong.

There is olso another version that is named Santa clausthaler holiday brew
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/santa-clausthaler-holiday-brew/1077217/
This is a mix of NA and cinnamon and cranberry juice.

Would suggest to move the wrong ratings from the first to the second product.

This is a collaboration with Free Will: https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/source-pub-time/1102438/

PUB TIME :beers::alarm_clock:
5.2% ABV | Nitro Extra Special Bitter Ale

Can I have some guidance on whether to add Gweilo Neon Jungle? It’s a 5.7% Hazy IPA. Gweilo is a Hong Kong outfit but many of their beers are brewed at Western Australia’s Rocky Ridge. Neon Jungle is and several of their other beers not currently listed as brewed at Rocky Ridge (like the Vegemite chocolate stout) probably are too. But there is a UK entity too and Gweilo Beer UK Neon Jungle is already there. It’s a slightly different 5.9% ABV. One of their Hong Kong venues seems to be a brewpub too. My inclination is to add this version as a separate entry to the Hong Kong entity, contract brewed at Rocky Ridge.

I think @LazyPyro managed the UK situation regarding Gweilo, so he might have some input on this.

Well it was easy enough at the start when their UK offerings were exclusively brewed here. Since then they’ve been brewing some of their beers in multiple countries - some staying the same, others having their recipe changed (Rainbow Sherbet) - so naturally it’s a little messy now. They’re not a brewery I follow personally so I’m not overly familiar with what they’re doing these days.

Anyway, 0.2% difference in ABV isn’t significant by itself, but obviously if the recipe is different in some way then it can definitely stand as a different beer. In the meantime you may as well add it as a separate entry because even if it’s decided to be the same beer the alias will be useful. I don’t think it really qualifies as a new entry but would like some other admins input on correct course of action for cases like this, it’s not something I’ve had to deal with myself in the past.

Also this situation reminds me of Yeastie Boys - pretty sure they’re not even based in NZ now - moved all their operations to the UK last year didn’t they? Nothing’s been changed on Ratebeer though.

Sounds good. Yes, breweries making some different, some similar and some beers the same (as far as possible) make things tricky. I think there’s going to be an Australian Evil Twin as well, so that should be confusing.

Yeastie Boys do still brew and have a presence in NZ. Their entry being listed in NZ and not split out came from a discussion between me and one of the owners. They consider them the same company with different international branches, so it seemed it should be represented like that here.

I can’t find the article now but I have just had a quick search and yeah I mis-remembered the situation. One of the co founders (Stu) moved to the UK back in 2015 but the other stayed in NZ. So yes, what you just said makes perfect sense.

It’s interesting though as the situation is the opposite on Untappd. They were very insistent on changing the country to England (they also handed over control of the brewery listing to their UK social media team). Of course this was much to the confusion of admins and users alike, many of whom lost a LOT of NZ rates.

Also somewhat strange is that they still consider Yeastie Boys Australia a separate arm of their brewery there, but UK and NZ are one and the same? I don’t understand how the Australia one is any different from Yeastie Boys UK, or even NZ, but oh well. It’s easier to manage all under one entry to be honest so I prefer how we have it here.

Duplicate

Just to note, for both of you - we have plenty of precedents where the “same company with different international branches” has the various international branches split out. In fact, that was kinda the rule from the start. The main beers brewed everywhere stay with the main branch, the country-specific ones stay with the local branches.

Duplicates: https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boatrocker-rock-flag-and-eagle/1055236/ and https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boatrocker-rock-flag-and-eagle/1104515/

These two are the same beer (same description). Name changed to Hankley Gold:

Tilford Hankley Gold • RateBeer

Tilford Gold • RateBeer

I have deleted my rating under Hankley Gold so it can presumably be deleted and then the Gold renamed.

This is IPA – Flavored:

Tilford Grapefruit IPA • RateBeer

To continue my trip around the beer metropolis of Farnham…

This is down as a Lager - American. It’s not great but it’s more interesting than that. I was thinkiing ISL (although it’s down as an Amber Lager on some other sites):

Can this version have Medium added to the name, please.

beer names are inconsistent. There’s “Brewing Projekt”, “The Brewing Projekt”, and “The Projekt”. could they be made consistent?

I have been on another trawl through the depths of Ratebeer.

This is an IPA:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/bowman-ipa/628457/

This references Rauchbier in the description so would seemingly fit under Smoked - Rauchbier, rather than Smoked - Other:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/moor-smoked-lager/748709/

This is an APA (description = Session Pale, rather than Session IPA):

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/trailhead-jubeerlee/1105075/

This is a Red Ale:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/fallen-acorn-lady-marmalade/873444/

This is an American Pale Ale.

Missing description: Our springtime Pale ale packs a punch. Loaded with some super fruity american hops and then dry hopped on Centennial this beer goes perfectly on a sunny springtime afternoon

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/flowerpots-spring-loaded/322572/

This is Mead - Metheglin (I guess = Heather):

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/new-quay-afon-mel-heather-mead/130099/

This is an IPA - Flavored (no mention of it being a Sour IPA anywhere):

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/disruption-is-brewing-bloody-s-ell-outs/1072640/

This is a collab with Double-barrelled:

Should these just be aliased to the originals:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/guinness-foreign-extra-stout-barbados/943906/

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/guinness-smooth-barbados/943898/

Outland appears to be a renamed Milk Made:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/badger-outland-milk-stout/1103638/

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/badger-milk-made-stout/964880/

Also the Coronation Ale appears to be a rebadge of Extra Strong Badger:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/sainsbury-s-coronation-ale/1097841/

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/badger-extra-strong-badger/1039976/

(Looks like there’s various other ones.]

This beer has been added under Swamp Bog who share premises with Two Cocks, instead of being added under Two Cocks:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/two-cocks-1643-flintlock/852345/

[I am not convinced that Swanp Bog beers got produced apart from a few month in 2020, and the owners seem to be just concentrating on their Two Cocks output.)

This is brewed at Theakstons (also the brewery is a Client Brewery):

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/brennan-s-irish-stout/994260/

Done… maaan, that was a lot of work. When our mass renaming tool got “fixed” not to cut off characters after a certain limit, new fuckups were introduced, so it’s unusable.

There were multiple duplicates, which I took care of, and tried to make consistent naming within series at least if not within the brewery itself. Local admins should probably go through it and retire stuff.
