Someone is overly determined to add this beer (1,2,3) but it already exists as this. Perhaps they are moved by the fact that is it’s 6.5% (not 6) and visibly says India Pale Ale on the can (not APA).

Ok one week later than I said here’s my first batch of style changes.

These are all Stout - Imperial to be changed to Stout - Imperial Flavored
All should be obvious from name/description, let me know if any ambiguity.

I have not been putting molasses or candi sugar as adjuncts.

Yeah that’s sensible.

White Stouts - currently across various styles, every single one I’ve had has had adjuncts (vanilla, coffee etc.) in it so they should be moved to one of the “flavored” styles at least. In my opinion either Stout - Flavored or Flavored - Other.
Personally I’d go Stout - Flavored, for the sole reason of siding with the brewer in that they’ve called it a “stout”, but I know this in itself is debatable! If we could get some consistency regardless of the decision that would be nice.

Shit man, don’t mention White Stouts and Stout - Flavored. I made that mistake and it kicked off.

This one - at least batches 2 and 3 - should be saison/ farmhouse flavoured, since it contains ginger salt, tarragon and canteloupe. It’s also 3.8% ABV.

I was just working out which one of this series a local brewery was selling and thought that they could do with a spring clean:

This one could be renamed: ‘Full of Beans I: Irish Coffee’ and should be Stout- Flavored

I don’t care enough to be consistent, since at some point they will be added as a style and we’ll have to change them again. As I’ve said before, just make sure they’re tagged as that makes mass moving them much easier.

and also I have a question since none of the new pale ale substyles that were added have descriptions on their respective pages:
is the generic “Pale Ale” style intended to be for pale ales that are NOT specifically marketed as “American” in style? i.e. those using non-American hops, yeasts etc.?
If so I’ll have some of those to change too.

Funnily enough I had been adding Pale Ales with NZ or Aus hops as Pale Ale - Aus/NZZ but an Admin commented that it was not the hops that dictated this but elements of the flavour (I forget what). I am working on the basis that if it’s a modern pale then it’s an attempt at an APA, if it’s an old fashioned beer then it’s a gold or bitter.

As far as I know, there is no good definition for just Pale Ale (I think it is a catchall). @Viper666.Qc might disagree though.
