I sent with Hermes as well. Fingers crossed! (the box I sent to Italy last week arrived safe and sound, though. even two days earlier than expected)
I’ve used Hermes a lot previously, never had any problems with them. Also, the tracking kinda makes it seem like the Finnish local carrier rejected the box for some reason.
Which is why I’m kinda curious if @simontomlinson has encountered any issues so far.
Well it’s not all bad news today.
A fantanstic bulging box arrived today from @Mallorn .
The box contains beers from breweries I had asked for & an excellent variety of other local beers.
There’s also a selection of my favourite Dutch produce.
The Jopen Dubbel Wit is already chilling for tonight.

I use IpostParcels which has just been taken over by DHL.
The box for Finland was collected by UKMail which surprised me - I checked them out & they’re a subsidiary of DHL.
There the story changes.
The parcel to Finland was redirected to an international hub in Cologne (Koln) & that is where it is sitting at the moment - since this morning.
I’ve never had any issues with the company & I’m quite confident the box will reach @japppp.

I stopped using Ipostparcela as I had various issues. DPD via Parcels2go now.
My Mum’s Finnish and post from/to Finland seems to always be very slow nowadays.
Don’t use IPostParcels / UK Mail as there seems to be a burmuda triangle in their distribution centre. Just visit any of their social media channels to see a never ending stream of people complaining about missing parcels. I had two large 20+ bottle parcels go missing there.
I’ve never had a problem with DPD, but I use Parcelforce now as have an account with them. Both excellent service, very quick throughout Europe, even France. The only problem I’ve had with Parcelforce was when GLS in Holland damaged then destroyed the parcel, but I got a refund.
Something has happened during 2020. I remember parcels from Germany/Netherlands taking 5-6 days to Finland but nowadays parcels might stay at same center 1-2 weeks without moving anywhere and I have heard stories about 3 month travel…
I’ve been sending packages a lot last couple of years. Any holdups and delays now are mostly because of Covid19. Businesses are still struggling to process all packages. Some countries are still locked for international mail. Less air transportation, especially for couriers that use passenger planes to sent packages abroad (for instance USPS). Sometimes packages have to take a different route than normally. More packages sent than usually. Less people working, or less effective because of new regulations. This causes pileups at distribution centres. Packages get lost, some get crushed, but I assure you most of them get through… eventually. My last order from USA took 54 days to reach my home while it usually takes 10 days at most. I also have had packages that stopped moving for a week or more and than suddenly I got an update.
Atm its wise to use a (sometimes) more expensive carrier. DPD, DHL, FedEx, UPS. Their processing time is way less than for instance national postal services (in my case PostNL).

Glad that glass bottle made it. Throw that bed cloth to trash, it was just there to protect bottle. The other Maku Imperial Stout is just released Bourbon Barrel version and it might not be in Ratebeer yet. Powder Clouds was IMO very good Finnish IPA but those two imperial pastry sours from same brewery are very… “experimental”

Looks like my parcel to @VastActiv has arrived back in Finland after being returned to Germany. Hopefully it’s back on track now, but the tracking is kinda all over the place, so who knows… 
Today I received a nice parcel, with a great selection of beer from Czechia and one from Croatia, chocolate (surprisingly well formed still, despite the hot weather) and coasters

My parcel to @japppp arrived in Finland at lunchtime & they’ve attempted making contact. Looking good for a Friday delivery. That’s pretty good after only collecting from UK Monday.

I should get the package from @MonsterMagnet tomorrow evening. DPD wanted to deliver it today in the morning, but i was at work and had to reschedule it for tomorrow.

I found my box from @TomHendriksen, when came back home today morning, no anouncment. And what I found there is exactly why I started organize these swaps, very local beers with few, or no ratings, aaalmost all were unknown for me. Many thanks man.
