Many old school RB users are still unaware that the site is shutting down in a few days, and will be gone for good by the end of the month.
A lot of us have moved over to Brewver already, but there are still some people here with thousands of ratings that will soon be lost - some are even still actively rating!
Since private messages are broken and we’ve (admins) not had much success with the old site beermail, this is a last ditch effort to get in touch with some of these people before it’s too late - we are hoping a tag on these forums will notify them by email.
Brewver.com - the site we’ve migrated to where you can upload your ratings (.csv files from above) - you don’t have to migrate here, but we think you should at least save all your ratings so you can decide if you want to move to Brewver at a later date.
If anybody reading this knows any of the above people, or for that matter anyone who they think may not know about the shutdown and isn’t yet on Brewver, please do try to get in touch and let them know. Feel free to tag them here if you know they’re not on Brewver. It’s going to be such a shame for so many people’s ratings to be lost into the ether.
Everyone has until 18th January to compile their ratings. Site functionality will cease after that date.
If you’re reading this after that but before 1st February, email joet ASAP.
Ive spoken to Druncanveasey already, he’s hopefully managed to save his ratings.
I am personally baffled how some ppl are unaware about this and still rate. Joe sent out an email new year’s day and there’s a pinned post on the front page.
I was going to spend some time tomorrow evening contacting users who don’t appear to have a Brewver account. Is the personal messaging definitely kaput?
I was only aware of joet’s email from the screenshot you posted in another thread. From a few replies it seems there’s quite a lot of us that simply never received it. I did check spam folder but nothing for me. Also I literally never visit the RB homepage. My bookmark goes to the activity page.
Cloin’s messaged a few people with the old beermail but don’t think he’s had any response.
I’m unable to get personal messages to load on these forums, except for old messages already sent. The page to send a new one doesn’t load properly just empty white. And I also can’t load people’s forum profiles to send a message that way. That said, I see I can message by clicking their tag so could try that later.
I was going to do this with top French, Belgian, Dutch and Polish raters, seeing as there’s active raters in these countries who don’t appear to have gone to Brewver. Hopefully they will get an email notification.
Btw Craig I see many of the top Scottish users are on Brewver now but some aren’t. I tagged AshtonMcCobb and mr_h in here but couldn’t tag ianwelby. There’s probably more too. If you know these guys and any others do let them all know if possible.
I clicked on the “Compile your ratings links” above and am unable to log in from there. After entering my username and password, simply nothing happens when I click LOG IN, except that the “Show log in data” prompt is displayed every time I click. Any way to fix this…?
