NOTICE

I am no longer actively maintaining this thread, other than any major/notable additions or removals. I have since created a dedicated website for online bottleshops. You can visit it at the imaginatively named https://bottleshops.online
The website is not just limited to UK/IE either, it is completely worldwide with well over 600 shops in the directory. And it has much more information than is contained within this thread. It can be easily searched and filtered based on the country you are looking for, the country you are located in and whether it ships there. You will also see shipping cost, number of beers available, plus links to external reviews (including RateBeer place pages), and it even has the functionality to post your own ratings and reviews there.

As someone who spends far too much money far too frequently buying from the plethora of online bottleshops we have in the UK, and in the absence of a easy to browse and complete listing on Ratebeer itself, I thought I would create this thread for future reference to help others find beers they’re after.

I hope you find it useful as this took a lot of time to write up.

I’ve personally placed orders with many of websites listed here. My place ratings can be found on their respective place pages on RateBeer, though some may be outdated now.
Likewise if you have any suggestions for online bottleshops based in the UK (or international ones that ship to the UK) that are not listed here reply and I’ll add them in.

I could try and compile one at some point, would need a lot of input from people in other countries though as aside from the ones I mentioned above I don’t know of many others, the only reason those are mentioned is because they offer UK shipping.

I randomly have info for some Ireland and Romania bottleshops, and one more in Germany, apart from that I’d need to do a lot of Googling or Ratebeer searching, and not speaking other languages will make things a little more difficult.

I have also ordered directly from Thornbridge and Fierce Breweries in recent months, I recall that Fierce were £7 however this was next day delivery and Thornbridge are free delivery

How did I manage to forget Thornbridge!? Thornbridge sell their beers via Eebria too so I didn’t even think to check their own website to see if they have a shop there as well, same thing with Fierce. Guess I should check more breweries out later I suspect there’s quite a few big ones I’ve missed.
And yes you were right, Thornbridge is free delivery, Fierce showed me £6 when I went through as if I were going to place an order. I’ve added both to the post now.

Yes you are correct, just checked my invoice it was £6 for Fierce. Just a word of warning though with Fierce the delivery was swift and products intact, however the packaging left a little too be desired, I ordered 6 small bottles which came in a 12 bottle box with just the flimsy cardboard dividers there was no polystyrene wotsits or padding of any description at all, the bottles were all over the place and yet incredibly (and this was probably due to the courier) all bottles were intact. So great beer, swift delivery, great courier (Parcelforce I think?) but non-existent packaging.

Just updated the brewery shops listing. Fourpure, Hawkshead and Verdant (relaunching when their canning line is operational) added from England. Cromarty, Fyne Ales and Tempest added from Scotland.

Wow, awesome. We have our own mail order page but these added fields about shipping are very useful. Perhaps we should add them to our places fields from which our MailOrder page is built.

Yeah this sort of data would be great if we could add it to places on the website. But only admins can edit places and I think too many are outdated now.
Also are you talking about this page: https://www.ratebeer.com/MailOrder.asp? If so it’s missing a lot of info compared to my table, and you can’t even go directly to the website, you have to go to the place page first. Yet it has a clickable phone number. The whole point of online order is the convenience, I don’t think showing the phone numbers of the stores there is helping anyone to be honest. Definitely in need of a revamp I think. I don’t need to see all countries on one page, only those that ship to my country.

Anyway, since I’m not an admin it seems easier for me just to do this on the forums for now. I’m compiling an EU list similar to this as well and I’m happy to keep both of them maintained here until your mail order stuff is improved.

Very happy with service from Hop Burns & Black. Apparently one of the beers from my last order is out of stock, so I’m getting a refund on that beer and an apology freebie!

Noticed that Siren is down as a taproom, but they don’t currently have one due to space limitations. A post on their website from a while back suggests that they are looking to open a taphouse this year.

Thinking of ordering on line from Beers of Europe, I have always visited them before so have no experience of their deliveries, has it always been good for others?

Yep. Never any problems for me and I’ve used them a total of 10 times over the last few years. They use APC Overnight’s fragile/liquids service as their courier which around my parts is absolutely flawless. Packaging is fine, not the best I’ve had as there’s some wiggle room, but not the worst either, my beers have always arrived safe and sound. Never any problems with beers becoming out of stock either - they actually keep a reserve of 6 in store so even if a beer went out of stock after you ordered it, chances are they still had 6 left.

Also very happy with them. Out of maybe 10 deliveries over the last 10 years, only experienced breakages once, and the two broken bottles very promptly refunded.
