That branch of Haul that opened in Birmingham is shutting (were they open for about 6 months?) so locals may want to hesd there over the weekend for 30% off.
Edit: must have overstretched themselves opening the Brum branch because the Stourbridge location has also closed.
Just spent the afternoon at the Phantom taproom in Reading and they tell me they are opening a new brewery taproom in Henley after the licensing and contract negotiations have been completed, so it’s not all doom and gloom at the moment.
Plenty of new places opening up to be fair. 5 or so new breweries opened up around here in the last few months, 4 of which are brewpubs or have taps. One more opening in Windsor shortly. I crowd funded Maverick near Alton so when they confirm the details I’ll pay a visit to their tap. And there’s a new micropub in Alton as well (plus the one I have yet to visit).
Supposedly Phantom were helped by an extremely rich father.
Edit: just read that another brewery has opennes in Hants. Breakbeat’s first release is a 9.4% Baltic Porter and subsequent releases include a 21% Icecream Impy Stout. Will definitely be after those.
Sad to read via Twitter that Big Scary Monsters Social Club, Cowley Road, Oxford will be closing in a few months, https://twitter.com/bsmsocialclub
This was one of my favourite places in Oxford and along with The Library and Brewdog and others had helped to firmly establish the area into a beer destination.
“Imagine something half way between West Coast and East Coast (New England). So, the hazy of N England but some of the bitterness of West COast with a big orangey hit of C hops - Mainly characterised by Cascade but also including Centennial and Citra”
THe beer style needs to be altered as well. I don’t know how the current description got there - I certainly didn’t call it an Amber Lager !! [ Probably best as just IPA ]
Note from Harwich Town below. Not sure how UKAdmin will deal with this. I’m starting to see beers appearing at local festivals under the WHARF name…
This is just a short communique to let you know what is happening at Harwich Town Brewing co.
As you will all know, after losing our home in Harwich in 2019, we moved operations to Red Fox brewery in Coggeshall.
Unfortunately, due to ill-health, Russ is stepping back from Red Fox. He has sold the business to myself and Glenn Ackerman of Witham Brewery.
The combined brewery will be known as WHARF Brewery Ltd.
I started Harwich Town in 2007 and Glenn started Witham Brewery back in 2012 and has 40 years of experience in the on-trade. Together with Fez the brewer, they have over 40 years of brewing know-how between them.
The current HTBC beers will merge with the existing product lines of the other two constituent breweries. None will disappear forever.
