A reasonably short message from Burton Town has confirmed that they are still brewing but the taproom has shut for good. Their beers are checked in reasonably regularly on Untappd as well.
No reply on this yet and I’m going to a festival Friday where some WHARF beers are on.
Also I now see WHARF are also putting out beers that were brewed by the already retired Farmers Ales (Maldon). Suppose they bought the rights/recipes?
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/farmers-ales-maldon-brewing/4073/
So that’s now 4 Essex breweries now having beers sold as WHARF.
Do we set up WHARF as a new brewery, retire the 3 currently active on RateBeer, then add what they are making now as new under WHARF and have the originals aliased as and when they get produced under the new name? Or…?
That’s close to what I would suggest.
Create WHARF as a new entity, move beers there where needed (noting what they were previously) - any aliasing should be done by creating new entries with old names, as aliasing old entries to new entries was always noted by Joe as a no-no for whatever reason.
I don’t know if this is a legit request as they are now closed, but could an admin change the West End Brewery to Leicestershire? They currently seem to be county-less.

After the invasion of Partizan, my Leicestershire stats need the help! Thanks.
sorted … they were showing as Bedfordshire when I went into fix
Maybe something slipped when they got retired?
The actual sequence was that Harwich Town transferred their production to Red Fox in Coggleshall. Red Fox subsequently went bust, so Harwich Town bought the Brewery and Red Fox Brand then changed name to Wharf Brewery. They have since bought up two more failing brands and as Grumbo says are rebranding as Wharf, all now produced in Coggleshall.
Imo. Harwich Town should be moved to Coggleshall and renamed on here as it isn’t really a new brewery, then those beers that they are producing from their buy ups should be either moved there or alliased.
Yup, if the sequence is Harwich Town + Red Fox equipment and location = Wharf Brewery, then Harwich Town should be renamed / edited. Thank you for the clarification!
Though… they all claim it’s a joint venture by Harwich Town & Witham, not HT buying up Witham. In that case… renaming Red Fox to Wharf and adding (Harwich Town / Witham) might actually be more correct. UK admins, what are your 2c ?
I think there was a bug that nulled the regions while editing places unless you manually set it. So probably got reset at that point.
Sounds the right approach to me
Witham was a complicated one. Came, went, came back again as a cuckoo. My contact indicates that their input will be on the brewing side rather than financial. It’s all quite messy so any solution is fine really, I don’t think anyone will know the complete truth.
Heres a question. This place is still there, same place, still goin strong.
https://www.ratebeer.com/p/fernandes-brewery-tap-and-bier-keller/33939/
There have been slight changes to the set-up after renovation though: there’s no longer a two-bar set-up with only the first floor serving cask and keg beer. It is now listed as ‘Luis Bar at Fernandes Brewery’. Probably best explanation of changes is here:
So do I close the old place and create a new one or simply rename? I never came here pre-renovation but it sounds similar enough to justify the latter.
Two Bermondsey brewery closures- Spartan and Three Hills Outpost.
Looks like Tunnel Brewery has been gone for a little while.
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/tunnel-brewery/6056/
Indian Brewery have owned the brewing kit and establishment since 2015. Tunnel became a Gypsy brewery but it looks like the company was dissolved in 2022.
Colemans Cider gone:
Have never been into it, despite having visited neighbouring locations but The Experiment in Haclney will close in a couple of weeks. Couldn’t agree a new lease.
This brewery https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/west-coast-brewery-prev-west-coast-rock-brewery/34414/ did NOT cease brewing summer 2021, and is still going, and is still named West Coast Rock. [ The current GBG gives no iindication of having ceased or changed name ]
Some of the beers will need to be revived too. I’ve just drunk Wonky Donkey, but the following have also been rated this year Blackpool Blonde, Blueberry Oyston Stout, Seaside Gold, Tangerine Dream
Kelham Island are producing a range of beers again, so should be unretired. All brewed at Thornbridge?
New address too:
KELHAM ISLAND BREWERY
UNIT 1A, 2 KELHAM SQUARE.
SHEFFIELD, S3 8SD.

Did you find anything out? Burton Town have 4 on Cask at the Chelmsford Beer Festival this week coming and their FB has been active again recently. There’s a comment on a post from 2nd June in response to someone saying they thought they’d vanished saying “the function hire & taproom have vanished, we’re concentrating on contract brewing”.
Looks like they need to be unretired.
Skinners Brewery (ratebeer.com)
Another Phoenix, Skinner’s reopened their doors 1st July per their FB. And they also have 4 on at Chelmsford Beer Festival starting this Tuesday.
They are no longer out of business on RB but all the beers are still retired. They are certainly making the usual suspects again.
Yes, I followed up with ‘A reasonably short message from Burton Town has confirmed that they are still brewing but the taproom has shut for good. Their beers are checked in reasonably regularly on Untappd as well.’
So yes, should be unretired in my opinion.
