Should really be a new brewery with new beers, but the old Fownes beers should be aliased to their new Fownds equivalent.
Other than the ones thave significantly charged, Shirley.
But how do we know they have significantly changed when the name remains the same? Sometimes you just have to accept things the way they are.
I was mainly referring to the one that has changed style… brewer’s intent and all that.
Was going through Des de Moor’s London Breweries website. Pretty sure his suspended Breweries list out of date as I think some of those Breweries have started to brew again. However he has also confirmed the following closures:
Affinity - move to Brixton didn’t work out. Being would up March 2024:
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/affinity-brew-co/29386/
Mellor’s Wlwere brewing at BBNo’s old site (for whom the brewery also worked for). With BBNo’s demise Mellor’s brewery was also wound up:

Own brewery closed Dec 13. Now cuckoo brewing:

Was brewed at Curious, now at Kirkstall:

Now brewed at Cameron’s:

Client brewing again, at Orbit:

Brewed at Hepworth:

No news when their planned breweryis to open, if at all. . Brewing at Wimbledon:
My former nextdoor neighbour in Merton informed me that Wriggly Monkey have called it a day. They sort of got going around the time we moved here, so never got to try any of their beers. Details about closure of brewery, shop and taproom can be found on their website. However I have also listed the details below.
Wooha Brewing was dissolved in 2023.
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/wooha-brewing-company-north-coast-brewing-co-ltd/22719/
The brands were taken on by North Coast Brewing in 2021 who then wound up the old Brewery in 2023.
This beer

is actually called XXXX Best not XXXX Bitter (as can be seen in the photo)
Interesting Facebook post from Hatdrians Wall Brewery about Black Storm Brewery.
A long post, please read on.
An unusual post from us this morning. We have never aired our dirty laundry in public.
The director (and owner) of Tornado Brewing (aka, Black Storm, WFCO Ltd, TSPV Ltd) will no doubt threaten litigation for exposing him and you, our socials audience and valued customers may think less of us. We’ve considered this carefully but think people should know the truth behind the potential success of this company. So you understand why we’re exposing him, the debt is over £20k.
Tornado Brewing engaged us in August 2023 to contract brew. To keep the brand alive while they installed the brewery in its new home in Gateshead. However, THEY WON’T PAY. No disputes on product or services!
By November, we had no more head space for it, it was making us ill, so we passed the case to a Debt Collection Agency, only then did a list of spurious complaints get sent in reason for non-payment.
To date no beer has been returned and in fact the cans are still being sold or to be more precise, given away, see their social media posts below. We expect it’s quite easy to give away something when it’s free.
During a conversation with the director, Andy was told he didn’t owe us any money, the debt belonged to the company. We concluded from his attitude that we were not going to get any payment.
We are delighted things are going so well for them, they might make enough money to pay us. You will be the first to know when this happens.
So rejoice, get your names in for the raffle and enjoy a year of free beer on us.
We must thank our hugely supportive team who know the impact this has had on our company finances and cashflow. Who are equally worried and who have agreed to us postponing their wage review this year. They are our rocks.
Generally (not sure if it is a rule), if a beer is originally a collab, and goes on to be just brewed by the host we don’t class as a new beer. Therefore think these two are the same. It night just need a note in the description to say no longer a collab…

I always think ones like this should be aliased to stop someone adding them again if they don’t spot the original.
Dunno if it’s a ballache for Admins but it seems to be an underutilised option.
This pub Hodnet Beer Guide: Your Hodnet guide to beer, beer bars, breweries and brewpubs is in Shropshire not West Midlands !
I think this has been raised before but Fownes Brewing has gone out of business.
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/fownes-brewing-co/15882/
The kit was subsequently bought and moved by the Weavers Ale House in Kidderminster and set up as Fownd Brewing Co as a Brewpub operation. I had a beer from the new Brewery yesterday, so I will set up the new Brewery on here.
See my post #2339. I haven’t added Fownd because it would need someone with enough access rights to be able to explain the situation in a note applying to the new brewery. Several beers need to be aliased as well.
The last two ratings for this beer

actually refer to this beer

which I have just added
When Drop the Anchor brewery moved from Christchurch to Hinton in 2020 it also moved from Dorset to just across the border into Hampshire.
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/drop-the-anchor-brewery/33214/
While Hampshire is being tidied up, these two Hants breweries have both closed:
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/4guys-brewing/46299/ (only ever did the one beer)
https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/growling-gibbon-brew-co/49451/
I think I mentioned this before but it has now got more complicated…
Asahi shut down Dark Star’s brewery. Brewing moved to Meantime.
At this point Dark Star were closed and new beers were added under Meantime.
However Meantime’s brewery has been closed. And Dark Star is still marketed as a separate brand.
But Dark Star beers have still been added under Meantime.
So should all Meantime and Dark Star beers now be added under Fuller’s.
Or would it be easier to keep Meantime and (reinstate) Dark Star and change them to Commissioners?
If it helps I did a check over everything, based on what I could find…

I suggested a naming convention of brewery - name from bottom of table - hypen - name from top of label
except with the Pretty good beer series where it made sense to change to bottom then top.
not precious and if a different format is chosen by admins, but hope the noted duplicates help.
… also PM me if needed as I have a spreadsheet with everything on it.
