How is Coronavirus Impacting Ticking

Supposedly a leaked govt report states that pubs and restaurants will be told to close temporarily in a week’s time. As Johnson’s govt pretty much only release info via placed leaks then suspect it is going to happen.

Other Half just announced they are to-go only. Truly these are end times.

It is getting serious now, Ireland’s shut all pubs and Inns, guess it’s going to happen in UK soon enough, so pleased I have the out of control stock of beers in the garage, although I never thought it would come to this for me to finally tackle them all!

Yes … I’ve enough beer and wine in the house to last the summer.

Really surprised Ireland didn’t wait until after tomorrow with this ban !

Well, if you’re serious about these measures you shut the pubs before St. Patrick’s, otherwise it doesn’t really make sense.

They will clamp down the big cities but knowing rural Ireland as I do there will be many a local lock in with the local copper present no doubt!

Perhaps they’ve seen the social distancing “curve flattening” simulations that show that a delay of one day increases total infections by 40%.

So that’s going to be 7 x 40% in the UK.

All non essential travel from outside the EU into EU countries suspended for 30 days. The UK is currently classed as EU.

So our Boris has now advised against all social contact and to avoid pubs and bars.

But stopped short of closing all pubs and bars, which would trigger insurance payments and hit his mates hard in the city. Instead he’s advising pubs to “do the right thing” thus sparking a witch hunt against those that don’t.

This puts financial help into question, with no concrete guidance from the government.

Personally I believe many rural pubs here in Shropshire will remain open. I’m meeting @blackhaddock for a beer share tonight. We’re taking precautions by sitting at least a metre apart, not touching each others glasses and washing hands before starting. Aside from that, we shall carry on.

Leaves it open for people to make up their own minds, land lords to make their own minds on responsibility etc, psychologically that may play better to the masses, I expect we will see a daily tightening as people get used to it.

We’ve been doing 50% of the team working in the office and 50% at home. Just been told the office is shutting with immediate effect. Some of my less switched on colleaguess left equipment in the office. D’oh.

Edit: fuck. I left my parcel from Hoptimism in my Locker

Exactly, while pubs are not instructed to shut then we should use them, you’ve hit the nail on the head about that two faced b##st:%d Johnson.

He seems to be doing everything he can from actually having to commit to making an actual decision.

I’ve always kept at least 2 metres from @BlackHaddock

Due to French citizens not paying any attention to government advise to lay low and avoid social contact (my partners friend who’s in the gendarmerie shared a photo of crowds of young people gathered around the monmartre steps) , everyone is ordered to stay indoors from 12 midday, for 15 days.

According to current models predicting the spread of the virus in the UK its estimated 250,000 will die unless it dramatically changes its course.

Which means if Boris somehow develops a backbone we may follow.

It goes without saying that its the duty of every rate beerian to ensure their beer stocks are full.

Interesting stuff! Agree on the sentiment of the Rate Beerian duty, normally I try to minimise beers and stay dry Monday to Wednesday, but under these circumstances, I am considering making an exception, due to the change in working and isolation, nice to have a beer to break then boredom a bit! Anyone else considering change in habits, even rationing perhaps

Yes @CraftBeerNick, I will now re-visit my stash and place them in ‘best before date’ order and only drink ones that are getting old and close to their ‘death date’.

No beers at all for three or four days a week also, to preserve stock and help me lose a bit of weight.

<*))))))><

I’m putting in a big beer order. Ticking by bottles and cans can get quite expensive quite quickly (as opposed to halves and thirds down the pub) so I’ll cutting down my rating a little bit.

A few bars around me are considering a bottle/can delivery service, we’ll see how that pans out as this could be an option.

Hey Chris @LazyPyro would you be able to put your wonderful post regarding all online UK, EU etc online beer ordering websites. I do use it from time to time in fact as recently as last week. However I think that it should be more prominent at this current time in order that we can support independent retailers, I guess it could also be added to. It’s a fantastic resource.
