Only one German kolsch in top 50

German beers only dominate (over half) in three styles: Zwickl/Land/Keller(30 in top 50), Weizenbock(26), and as no surprise to anyone - Kristallweizens(32).

This got me curious about the other German Styles, so here they are (by my quick count):
Altbier - 14
Berliner Weisse - 2 (Flavored - a big 0)
Dunkel - 5
Doppelbock - 10
Eisbock - 4
Dunkler Bock - 14
Heller Bock - 16
Gose - 1 (Flavored - another 0)
Helles - 7
Maerzen/Oktoberfest - 4
Pils - 1 (I know, not originally German but ubiquitous in Germany)
Radler - 2
Schwarzbier - 6
Rauchbier - 15 (primarily Aecht Schlenkerla)
Dunkelweizen - 18
Hefeweizen - 10

Thanks, nice stat.

But for Pils it looks like three out of 50?

Gänstaller Bräu Pils (which I think you are referring to)
Rittmayer Bitter 58
Schönramer Grünhopfen Pils

True! All these beers are - no surprise - from Bavaria and lightyears away from these horrible german industrial Pilseners, where noble hops are replaced by hop-extracts. Instead of “aromas” You get metallic bitterness…

Yeah, thanks for the correction. I figured I’d miss something.

Ahh when I was RB admin this was one of my main annoyances that are not Kolsches…I am glad that I am not alone on this.
