STATES / REGION for all countries

SO the Top raters in region is blank, is that something that needs worked on, or just something that will populate on some batch job. I see the sections there just no info?

I agree with Viper666. But honestly, I can understand for : Corsica, Brittany and Normandy (even if that’s not official : more geographical than administrative). After all, Länders were translated.

Yes indeed, Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Center-Loire Valley and Provence-Alpes-French Riviera sound really weird. But in French, that sounds also weird  Nevertheless, ok for Burgundy-Franche-Comté ; I would change the 2nd one for Centre-Loire Valley and the last one for Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (after all, French Riviera is only the “coast” not the whole department and the name of the old region exists for a long time and I haven’t seen this translation on the web).

Hi Craig. You should be seeing top raters in each of the new Scottish Regions, but do you mean Top Raters who live in each region? These are empty because individuals will have to update their personal data and now include the region in their address

Ok, quick look through the region listings and some notes:
Traquair is in Central Scotland atm but should be borders https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/traquair-house/342/
Only a single beer for New Wave, but should maybe be Edinburgh? https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/new-wave-brewing-craft-centric/15553/
Not sure Arran is Western Isles https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/arran/2264/ it’s Ayrshire Council area, or possibly Argyll and Bute.
Tennent’s should be Glasgow https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/tennent39s-wellpark-brewery-tennent-caledonian-cc-group/240/
Out of Town are in Dunbartonshire, but Lawman is in Lanarkshire currently. Both based in Cumbernauld.
Callandar is central Scotland really https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/lade-inn-brewery/12230/
I’d also have thought Kinross is more Fife than Tayside https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/loch-leven-brewery-2017-/32309/

Sounds fine. I’d say it makes sense to have Corsica, Brittany and Normandy in English as those are super well known, and all the rest stay in French. Plus it’s not like those three places speak great French anyway

DOH i will have chosen the wrong list

cant see how to update location though

Just tried it myself, you can certainly bring up Scotland but the Scottish regions don’t come up in the dropbox. @services would you be able to take a look at this in Account Settings please.

Hi
I confirm that there is 20 different region in Italy
If it counts my opinion is to use the Italian name because only few regions end cities have an English translation
I apologies for my English
Cheers

Italy is fairly well-known (amongst those that care about these silly things) for translating the names of its’ cities and regions. The following Italian regions have official English-language names (Italian-language names in parentheses):

  • Aosta Valley (Valle d’Aosta)
  • Apulia (Puglia)
  • Lombardy (Lombardia)
  • Piedmont (Piemonte)
  • Sardinia (Sardegna)
  • Sicily (Sicilia)
  • Trentino-South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige)
  • Tuscany (Toscana)

The rest of Italy’s regions use their local name in English (e.g., Lazio, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Calabria).

In general, I think it might be a good idea to go with the English-language names if the region actually has an official one set by local authorities. Not every English-language name is official for each country, it’s worth pointing out.

Cheers @daniele !

Yeah impressive. Nice work @daniele

All Scottish Breweries should be up to date now and also all Scottish Places apart from roughly 50 left in Glasgow which will be done shortly. If anyone spots any glaring errors please let us know.
