Stupid question probably, but how can you alter the map position? I created a place in All Stretton, Shropshire and the map pin is a couple of miles off - doubtless I fucked it up, but don’t know how to fix it, lol! (I ain’t paying no fee, BA Baracus stylee)
Those who can edit places should be able to add coordinates to them. If you can but don’t see the coordinates, well damn, must be admin-only then. Dunno. I’ll fix it for you now.
Happy birthday!
You probably didn’t. The site currently have some geolocation problems from time to time when it automatically generates coordinates…
I have added recently added Wirsthaus Tannengarten to Munich Places.
Ratebeer has added it to Munich, however for some strange reason it has placed it quite central near Marianplatz, whereas it should be 3km south west of there and close’ish’ to Implestrasse U-Bahn. I have checked the address details that I added and all appears to be correct.
That’s because of the „ß“. Ratebeer doesn’t understand this sign and then places the place in the city center.
Corrected it now.
Thanks!

Closed for good according to google
…any chances for a temporarily closed option for Places?
If it’s marked as closes it says “Permanently Closed”, but particularly in these days there are places that’s temporarily closed (I know it can be written in the opening hours field, but that’s not very visible…)
Click on the ‘pencil’ and you can now edit (and close) places yourself:
These two seem to be the same place and should be merged.

Hmm, not quite the same thing apparently. 2 somewhat separate parts of the same venue.
The owner of a store in Luxembourg doesn’t like InBev (fair enough), maaaybe got butthurt about some of the reviews as well and defaced the entry.
And, accidentally, linked the name Hoppylicious to Inbev. Also, making sure his store shows on the map as “Inbev fake”, so that everyone knows that “Inbev fake” is there so that people using RB to find craft beer places, of which there are still surprisingly many, actually won’t be able to find his store and probably will go to the competition. I’m actually tempted not to intervene.
But since the enormous majority of us want to promote craft, independent breweries, their beers and the places where to get them, the entry is back to normal, and I added their new, second store - which I reckon needs exposure even, especially in these times which are rough for everyone:

Share craft beer love, not misplaced hate!
Great, now I know there’s a new beer store in the city.
Got to check it out these days.
Thank you!

These should be merged, also linked to the brewery.
A local bottle shop, Grumpy Goat in Reading, has moved to a new location. Bigger and they now seem to be selling bread, etc, which I don’t believe they did before, although that may be a Covid related service. Also all old reviews refer to the fact that it was a tiny shop in an old Victorian/Edwardian shopping parade
Is this just a rename or should the existing location be closed?
I reckon we should just change the address and put a note giving the move date. The essential business model for us is likely to be the same I would imagine. That shopping parade seems to be emptying pretty quickly.
Changes of venue affect atmosphere and more aspects. Just by changing addresses we create Frankenstein place entries with little to no value, with people describing different things and often contradicting each other, which lessens the value Places have.
