I am lucky because I have had three beery trips to Germany this year with two beer festivals over those visits. My total for the country has risen nicely with a decent spread around the 16 Bundeslander.
I’m far behind a lot of people here, though I have ratings for beers from all of the Bundesländer save for Saxony-Anhalt. Like most people, though, Bavaria leads the way for me.
Thanks to regular trades with Kolschtrinker and Erzengel I think I’ve got a fair representation of the main regions here. Now neck and neck with Scotland for me.
Well I am from Germany so I already out a bit of effort into these stats. One of my goals for this year was to get 10 rates from every state.Only two missing but wont make them this year, just dont wanna order beers online. Bavaria leading of course.
Rhineland-Palatinate is my home state and this year I put a lot of work into getting as much new rates from here as possible. I live at the border to Hesse so a solid third place for them. Moving to Berlin in January should bring Berlin and Brandenburg states up aswell as some more East Germany states.
Well, I’ve been living in Germany for more than 50 years, but only rated 7384 german beers…
Bavaria ( what else…) 4558
Baden-Württemberg 902
Nordrhein-Westfalen 698
Saxony 244
Hessen 235
Thuringia 157
Berlin 101
Niedersachsen 97
Hamburg 87
Rhineland-Palatinate 86
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 73
Brandenburg 43
Schleswig-Holstein 42
Saxony-Anhalt 26
Bremen 14
Saarland 12
Event though I am living in this country, my number of beer-ratings looks quite poor. But this limited amount of german beers is caused by the fact, that I’ve never sampled “Radlers”, “Low-alcohol beers” and products of “german Hausbrauereien of the modern kind” (with few exceptions) in order to save my taste-buds!
I have a Postdamer Weisse cellared to help you out with that Brandenburg tick.
Saving up for a Berliner Weisse tasting though, maybe at Totem next time to see if Belgians have learned to appreciate deceptively simple, clean flavours by now.
Lived in Lower Franconia for 3 years (but was just on RateBeer for about a year of that) and in Rhineland-Palatinate (near the Saarland border) for another 2.5 years.
