FAO UK Admins - Breweries/Places Housekeeping

Do we know if Howling Hops brewery has moved from London to Brighton yet?

So we may have been premature regarding Seven Sisters and they are probably contract brewing. My sister-in-law gave me a few beers, including one from Seven Sisters. Only this one doesn’t have a Bournemouth address, it has a Ripon address:

This is Hambleton’s address.

Just checked and that other address is presumably for Brewhouse & Kitchen - Southbourne.

This place is shutting:

This is a duplicate brewery:

The beer should be recorded under Baynhams brewery. For whatever random marketing reasons they called their brewery Baynhams but the beers are then labelled using the ‘PigBeer’ brand.

Incidentally the same error has been made on Untappd.

Passed by the Royal George in Stagsden and looks to have been closed for some time. No great loss but for purposes of cleaning the database…

Laine have been bought by Patron, who own Punch Taverns.

Their core beers are being brewed at Hepworth (not mentioned in the article). Edit: Hepworth have equipment which other ‘cuckoo’ brewers use themselves.

Beer Guide London updated their annual openings and closures. We seem to be up to date with new breweries. They excluded a couple of breweries which started using third parties to brew their beer (I.e. Project 88 and, I believe, Magic Spells). Seems to be two that still need to be closed down on here:

Partizan New England Saison appears to have 2 versions. The original 6% version and a new 4.2% version. This one (4.2%) says its “altered slightly to become an occasional beer”.

Can this be split and the ratings moved? Or do I delete my rating and add the new beer.

Now updated to this.

I thought I’d discovered a new brewery but the issue is that the format on here does not tie in with the actual name of the brewery so did not appear when I searched for it.

The Pilot Brewery (Mumbles) is on the site as Pilot of Mumbles:

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/pilot-of-mumbles/24003/

Therefore it does not appear as a brewery if you search for The Pilot or Pilot. Only the Italian ‘The Pilot’ appears.

Could you go for the second option here please.

All above now tidy for the end of the year. Happy New Year to all our contributors.

You did get overzealous with one. Laine haven’t shut. They’re just brewing on smaller kits which Hepworth have available for other breweries to use, so not contract brewing as such. Their own kit is still presumably is use for the brewpubs and non core beers. I was just thinking that the owners name and details regarding the vore beers could be updated.

Also Seven Sisters should have the old London address reinstated and have the brewery type changed to Client. I’d like to take a look at some of their other cans and see how many different places they’ve been getting beers brewed for them

Happy new year!!

Have cross-referenced Des de Moor’s list of closed (, cuckoo and moved out of) Greater London breweries with our live list:

The following breweries can be closed:

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/°plato-brewing/21442/

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/gan-yam-brew-co/38270/

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/hill-brothers-brewery/32623/

There are 5 or so that opened and shut in the last few years without having been added on RB.

Noticed that the above list includes Adventure which is down as a closed Surrey brewery on RB. However Chessington and Hook are indeed part of the London Borough of Kingston and not Surrey

https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/adventure-brewery/14880/

Just to let you all know, the site is currently a heap of crap and Admin work is currently impossible due to constant loggin circles of death. Absolutely awful.

I tried a few of the Cloudwater 2019 Barrel Programme beers over new year and one of my ratings has been moved.

The beer I had was Cloudwater Bourbon BA Chocolate Stout at 13%. It’s been moved to Cloudwater Bourdon Chocolate Imperial Stout also 13%.

The description of these beers is different. The one I had says “before 16 months in bourbon barrels” the other says “before conditioning in Jim Beam barrels for 6 weeks”.

Also Cloudwater describe the beer I had as part of their 2019 barrel programme, the other beer has ratings over numerous years.

Surely as this beer has a different name, different barrel ageing process and was part of a specific 2019 release, merging it with other different beers is the wrong thing to do.

Below is a link to the beer page on the Cloudwater shop.

Yes, it looks like someone has done quite a bit of Aliasing work. I cannot get into any of the Admin pages at present, like many of the other Admins that keep this site going. Going foe a lie down.
