Supermarket updates

Think I’m 7 deep into those. All been great, other than the 1543 that was in terrible nick.

No sign of this in Edinburgh today…

Scottish Lidl’s have a box set of wee heavies, 60/, 70/ and 80 shilling and Belhaven Best to celebrate the Jacobite Uprising.

They were pretty good at Uprisings the old Jacobites … never so great at overall wins though!

I was thrilled to find this pack at my one and only nearby Lidl. Seems to include a number of new scoops for me, which is nice. The Lidl had a variety of other great value ticks for me. I should really stop my more often.

What’s new about the Schneider? It looks like their usual Festweisse apart from the commemorative label. .

Same price everywhere, I think, but limited stocks - I just managed to snag one of the last two in my local.

Also the same price as Kalea originally sold the exact same case in Germany & Austria, by the way - there it was €29.99.

My better half picked up a slab of these today as well as these:

What a time to be alive!

Original version was retired in 2021. New version as of 2022. Appears to be a change in hops.

I’ve got spaetzle and bockwurst to eat the next three days when I am working from home.

Are Lervig beers to be found in some ordinary British supermarkets? I know they are exported to the UK, and are available in some specialised offies and good pubs, but what about the supermarket chains? I ask because I conduct beer tastings for British cruise passengers in Stavanger, and they want to know where they can get Lervig beers on their ordinary shopping spree, without having to search out specialised offies.

Morrisons.

Also, Lervig beers turn up in some of the pub co chain pubs that are trying to be more modern and craft.

Their very basic core range beers, yes on occasion in M&S. Their more specialist one-offs and anything beyond lager or pale ales only really in specialist beer shops. Personally I would not send them to supermarkets and force them to search out the independent retailers on their doorstep they “had no idea they existed”

Call them lazy fuckers and then claim that you thought it was a term of endearment.

Home Bargains has new Tailgate and Glen Cannich beers in (two of each, none on the site yet).

<*))))))><

Are they any good though?

:joy:

The Tailgate two were not very impressive to be honest, not had the Glen Cannich two yet.

Truth is Tennessee and Merseyside rates are rare around here in Shropshire.

These are rare rates where i live

Pro Tip … if they are likely to be shit …don’t bother … stay local for better quality !

Saw this at my local Asda - pretty surprised to see them stocking an impy stout from a relatively unheard of brewer, and surprised that Gritchie have moved from traditional stuff to craft:

Apparently Asda are getting in some brews from The Garden too, although they weren’t at my local one yet.
