Seems to be the case. In fact I don’t think there is a limit on the new add beer page because a beer I added a while back had an even longer name than that. An admin later edited it (no idea why because nothing changed) and had to remove a word or the slashes between collaborators so it would fit. So that seems to confirm admins are working with far more restrictions than users are.
In any case I think the limit needs to be raised. Long name beers are fairly commonplace these days. Evil Twin and Omnipollo for example are two breweries who find this fun. If it causes problems on the page when displaying it’s trivial to truncate it in CSS. No need to compromise on data integrity.
Also are any other admins besides Marko monitoring this thread? There’s a few UK beers, some of which have gone unfixed for weeks so I’d like to post them here, but I don’t want to be burdening Marko with all the edits as it’s not fair on him
And @joet any chance we can get a page showing corrections we’ve submitted? I accept that admins are working with a large backlog but when it’s taking weeks I honestly can’t remember if I’ve submitted a correction already and I don’t want to make things worse by submitting another.
Just write whatever correction you have here - all those that contain names with diacritics preferably. They will likely be spotted sooner and sorted out faster.
Hah, had a roundabout way to handle this. Pelicon / Yeastie Boys Brut IPA is used interchangeably with the “full name”. So I just made a new entry with that name and all the info and aliased the older version to it.
Lol that is dumb. But glad you found a way to sort it out in the end
Really hope joet will fix these issues so that you don’t have to find stupid workarounds like this!
On the Original Post it says “Please Post Here for any BREWER related entry issue which need correction.” But this thread is for beer corrections. @Viper666.Qc
Hook Norton have recycled a beer name. This beer should be retired. The two recent ratings should be moved to the new Crafty Fox Black IPA. Also the photo is of the new beer.
Not exactly sure where to post this so I guess here is the best option.
The other day I added this beer https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/track-verdant-the-path-of-least-resistance/670279/
Shortly after I saw a picture from a taproom it was on at with a slightly different name so I thought I had it wrong and submitted a correction for it. However, turns out the way I added it originally was indeed right and the taproom had it wrong, therefore my submitted correction is wrong too and should be ignored. Please delete my submitted correction if it’s not already so as not to confuse any admins who come across it! Thanks and sorry for inconvenience.
I have some corrections that haven’t been handled in the past few weeks which is unusual for the UK admins, other corrections I submitted after these were handled pretty quickly. So I’m writing here in case more info was needed.
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/north-brewing-co-action-against-hunger-small-stout/667890/
Action Against Hunger is the charity this beer is helping, not really part of the name, which incidentally is missing the collaborators.
Correct name: North Brewing Co / Left Handed Giant / Six Degrees North / Track Small Stout
The misleading “keg” description (why is this constantly written on canned releases?) can be replaced with the proper one:
A mini imperial stout flavoured with chocolate and vanilla. Brewed with Left Handed Giant, Six Degrees North and Track to raise funds for Action Against Hunger - 25p per can and 10p per every pint sold.
It’s a collaboration and there’s a much better description for it. See here, quoting below Beer
Name: Magic Rock / De Molen BA De Molé
Description:
A double mashed Bourbon Barrel Aged Mexican Mole inspired Imperial Stout brewed in collaboration with our friends from Brouwerij de Molen. Oats, malts, barley and toasted pumpkin seeds were used in the mash to give a complex base of flavours. We then used a blend of Chipotle, Ancho, Mulato and Pasilla chilies to give a nice fruity acidity along with a delicate touch of heat.
True to the Molé recipe, we also added cacao nibs, coriander seed, cinnamon sticks and a little cumin, giving depth and different layers of flavour, that develop as the beer warms. Smoky, chocolatey and roasty on the nose, with a great complexity of tastes.
The bourbon barrel ageing adds additional vanilla depth to this wonderful Imperial stout.
I have a question.
De Troch Lambickx 2013-2015 French Oak is in the database. I have a Lambickx 2013-2015 Oak and Chestnut bottle. Does it deserve its own entry?
