FAO UK Admins - Breweries/Places Housekeeping

I’ve had a similar conversation before with my Dad, who use to work for Hampshire CC. The local authority take would be to ignore the postal addresses on the basis that they are purely base on the PO’s own requirements. I.e. Wild Weather having Silchester address when it’s in Berkshire or Blackwater (added a pub there) having a Surrey address when it’s in Hants.

Back onto hyphens. This is a double barrelled hyphen issue. There’s a new brewery opening in Reading (or to be precise: Reading - Caversham:). It’s called Double-Barrelled. Will the hyphen in brewery name cause problems?

Yeah it’s a bit of a pain. For instance, people tend to think of London postcodes as E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W & WC. But they only cover about 40% of the area of London, as far as the borough boundaries are concerned. In the outer areas a lot of it doesn’t actually have a London address at all - it’s covered by places like Croydon, Sutton etc. And for those post towns, parts are in London and parts are in e.g. Surrey.

But, the thing is, if you don’t use postal addresses you can’t always be sure where a place is as the boundaries may not be marked on maps. In London, for instance, the areas we have listed are somewhat arbitrary. And, at the village level, you can see parish boundaries on OS maps but not all parts of the UK are parished and sometimes two or more villages are combined into a single parish.

Both updated.

Sorry, to which place?

Beer is now split as suggested.

I don’t believe it will cause a problem, it ismostly with mapping that we have the problem, not brewery names, apart from sometimes we are getting an alphabet sorting problem with apostrophe’s.

Siren, cheers,

Hi Glen,

Sorry for the delayed response, however I have now added Beer Revolution back on here now to the new address.

Also I added a place this morning the Oil Basin Brewhouse in Worcester, I meant to add it as a Brewpub as Wintrip Brewing Co’ will be based there, the bar is already open and they are just finishing the brewery. This is the same person who runs Three Shires Brewery in Worcester, I think his name is Robert Wintrip. I suspect that may close Three Shires but not 100% sure, or he may brew both Wintrip and Three Shires beers at the new site. They had one Wintrip beer on tap on Saturday however as he had been so involved in getting the bar up and running this was brewed for him by Teme Valley to his recipe, it was good but he said not quite how it would taste if he’d have brewed it.

Fin

Cheers Fin. I will alter the Oil Basin Brewhouse to a Brewpub when they do start brewing. Seems to be new things going on in Worcester every time we visit, it is certainly a decent beer city now.

Some Huddersfield Changes

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/wood-street-craft-beer-house-huddersfield/65813/
This place has closed. Replaced with a Live music bar called Northern Quarter but have no details of beer availability.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/head-of-steam-cameron’s/31118/
This place has 14 HP now (12 in use on my most recent visit).

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/lord-wilson-jdw/31119/
5HP here (which I think is a reduction from my last visit, but the previous number isn’t currently listed anyhow).

Has ditched its cask ales.

Job done, many thanks for the update.

BrewDog Clapham Junction - turned up at 14:00 to discover it was shut. At some point recently it has moved to a 16:00 opening from Mon to Thurs.

For updating:
https://www.ratebeer.com/p/deli-belge/12164/
This place is still a deli but has changed name, gone are its bottles so I guess it can be closed.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/hogs-head-brewhouse-sowerby-bridge/62140/
Has 8 Keg lines as well as the currently listed 8HP.

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/sowerby-taps-sowerby-bridge/59016/
This place now only opens on Friday & Saturday from 5pm, & Sunday from 4pm as it’s below the Bull On The Bridge Hotel, which is owned by the same people and the cask lines through to this place are the same, so they only open both bars are peak times now. It kind of makes sense when you see it as the two places cater for a different clientele at weekends.

Similarly to the Windsor & Eton/Uprising set up, West Berks also produce ‘craft beer’ under the Renegade Brewery label. Apparently it’s run by their younger staff. Soon it have its own brewery. Currently the beers are listed under West Berks’ page but should it be a seperate brewery listing as per Uprising? There is a separate website.

An update for Cambridge please. The Mill Road branch of Cambridge Wine Merchants closed 1/1/2018. The other branches are unaffected.
